Good for him, i'm glad someone took a chance on him....i always liked Bell, hopefully he'll do well in NY.

He'll probably score a hat trick against us tonight, as the leafs are playing the Rangers..lol

from one crappy team to another. My question is why? Something must be brewing in Ranger land.

Looks like the Rangers are in "throw **** at the wall and see what sticks" mode.

For anyone that's interested...

56Games 12Goals 15Assists 27Points this season in the AHL.

Started off the season REALLY poorly for the Marlies but somewhat started to come around a bit into the midway point in the season but still shows nothing special.

Anyways, good for Bell, he didn't get much of a chance in T.O., so maybe he'll be able to redeem himself in NY. I'm also glad that Burke is sweeping away all these old guys playing for the Marlies. It clears some space to actually develop the young guys.

Isn't Bell only making around 2 million a year? If so, at this point of the season that cap hit after re-entry waivers is only going to be around half a mil.

There's a line?

(waiver priority is determined solely by position in the standings. past claims do not factor in at all)

I just pray that if he doesn't work out we waive him.

On the bright side:

A) It might work out

B) This could signal Voros being gone

C) His contract ends this year

So it's not going to be a disaster, but I sure as hell hope this isn't supposed to be Sather's big move. That's cap space that could be used elsewhere.

That raises a good question. He was claimed on re-entry waivers so NYR pay half his salary and the Leafs pay the other half. Now if he's put on waivers again by NYR this time and is claimed, the new team would be on the hook for the half-salary that the Rangers owe. However, if Bell clears waivers and is than claimed again on re-entry waivers, would the new team only be on the hook for a quarter of Bell's salary (half of the half salary the Rangers are paying)?

Yeah so they'll pay half of 2.17 M, pro-rated, so its about only about 270 k for the rest of the year.

I'm happy with this move because Bell(from what I remember) is an upgrade of Voros in every regard to playing hockey. Bell's Salary is 1.1(not pro-rated) compared to Voros' 1 million.

I hope this doesn't spoil a return for Avery, He and Torts would be a blast to hear butt heads. Voros has gotta be on the outs now though.

Any idea on what Voros is making? I liked the way he played early in the season and am wondering if a team would like him for a playoff push.

I haven't watched the Rangers at all besides the games they played against the Leafs this season but Voros would have to be pretty damn bad to be worse then Bell in all regards.

On top of not scoring much this season in the AHL, he's been rather soft as well.

Considering the Leafs were trying to bring him up, I think more than likely they would claim him anyways and Bell wouldn't make it to Hartford.

Was put on recall waviers, not called up. Burke is giving players like Bell a chance to find another team interested in their services.

No. There is no "half of the half". If a player is claimed on Re-Entry Waivers, it is always the team that placed him on those Re-Entry Waivers and the team that claimed him that split the player's salary and cap hit.

If Team B claims a player on Re-Entry Waivers from Team A - Teams A & B split salary and cap hit 50/50 for the remainder of the players contract.

If Team C later claims the player on Regular Waivers from Team B - Teams A & C split the salary/cap hit, Team B is off the hook.

If Team C later claims the player on Re-Entry Waivers from Team B - Teams B & C split the salary/cap hit, Team A is off the hook.

If this move spells the end of Voros in NY, Rangers fans will rejoice.
