Keith Thachuk to MTL

They talk about it at l'antichambre Tuesday night and i think thachuk could be a very good fit for our hockey club.He can play center, he is a big body and a great leader. Also an unrestricted free agent at the end of the year.

What would it take to bring him in Montreal?

Funny how everyone is throwing out 1st rounders for 35+ year old rentals, but players 5 years younger are worth much less.

Big body as in overweight - was once told to stay home to get in shape. Far from a leader.

Key word.

You obviously don't watch much Blues games. He's a leader night in and night out.
That being said, I doubt he's waive his NTC to play in Montreal.

I really don't see the attraction of Thachuk. He's not that great of a player anymore and he's never had any success in the playoffs (maybe once). He won't be worth what they are asking and I hope the Habs don't pick him up.

I think Thachuk would fit in Montreal, but I think it is a moot point since I doubt we are one of the teams he would wave his NTC for.

Hell no, let's not become the 3rd team to overpay for this guy at the deadline, even though he'll never waive his NTC to come to Montreal anyway so it's moot.

If you guys are willing to give a 1st rounder for chuk, would you do it for Antropov as well?

No thanks. His play in the playoffs aren't worth giving up a first rounder for or a top prospect. Hopefully he goes somewhere else.

1st round is an over-payment for Tkachuk, and at this point in time Tkachuk is much more valuable going into the playoffs than Antropov. Antropov is probably worth a bucket of pucks right now to the Habs. Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't mind having him but the only thing I would give up for him is another useless scrub on our team that belongs on T.O.....Latendresse.

I hope you mean Olivier Latendresse because if you actually watched the Guillaume play before he got hurt you would have noticed he was playing very well... and oh yeah, he is also only 21 years old.

While I'd consider it unlikely KT would waive his NTC to go to MTL, I wouldn't out and out dismiss it. I'm sure playing in a place like Montreal has it's appeals to many players and they definitely have a better chance than either the Pens or Rangers who are two other teams typically associated with Tkachuk so I could see him being more willing to go there than a few other places. Boston is still the obvious destination for many reasons but if not Boston, I could possibly see KT going to MTL.

As for what it would take for the Habs to get him, I'd say a 2nd rd pick and a decent prospect. It might take the 1st rounder but I have my doubts. Halak would probably be who the Blues would ask for first but that doesn't make much sense to the Habs. Why would they want to add Tkachuk by decimating their goaltending depth right before the playoffs? The Blues have already said they'd be more interested in players or prospects close to the NHL over more picks but very few playoff teams are going to want to give up someone currently on their NHL roster...why fill one hole by creating another hole? Is there anyone in Hamilton or that is fairly close to being NHL ready that the Blues might have interest in?

anyone here with even a portion of their young impressionable brain left, actually believe gainey's going to give up the habs starting goalie right now, 23, signed for 2 more years at under a million for a 37 year old ufa.

remember, drugs destroy young minds

All that was was a blogger taking his wild guess at what teams KT would waive his NTC for. No player in his right mind would ever make a list like that public.

I hope Gainey doesn't look into any of these older pure rentals if they come with a 1st rounder pricetag attached. Some other team can have him.
