No to Guerin... what nearly 38 year rental player with that contract.... they probably want a bunch for him. I am warming up to the idea of Roberts in a limited role and a backup goalie.

I think it's more along the line of Smyth would waive his NMC to come to Calgary, rather than Calgary is actively pursuing him.

If Prust's injury is as bad as it could be, I'd be alright with Roberts playing that role for the playoffs provided the Flames bring back the 89 jerseys.

Morris is a strong defensive defenseman. As much as I'd like to see him back, I think alot of teams will be looking at him, and most of which can offer more than we can. If he is a UFA this summer, cant't remember, I think it would be worth the shot to try to snag him there.

Kevin Weekes will not be available since Clemmensen is subject to re-entry waivers

Wow the defence looks slow now (see 8-6 loss to TB) with Giordano out. Hope we get a fast, puck moving dman by Wednesday.

With Giordano out, we have basically the same defence as last year (Pardy in, Hale out).

We couldn't beat San Jose last year. We won't beat Detroit, San Jose or Chicago with their very fast transition game unless we add another top 4 dman.

A month ago or so on TSN "The Panel" talked about whether Calgary could be mentioned with the elite teams. Bob McKenzie said "not unless they upgrade their defence". Bob knows his hockey and I have to agree.

Mark Recchi says he'd welcome a trade to a contender like the Calgary Flames:

Definetly wouldn't mind Reechi. Having a great year and has the playoff experience. There is no doubt anymore that Sutter is going to have to make a couple of moves especially with all the injury trouble we are having. Should be an interesting day tomorrow.

I would like to see a guy oike Leopold and possibly Olli.... not sure about Olli as he has zero playoff games but Keenan really likes him and vic versa. Hoping we can get a better back up and the team would look great... curious to see what he does

Sutter now has to get at least one forward and probably two with all the injuries up front - Langkow, Bourque, Bertuzzi, Prust

It's a matter of not depth anymore, it's a matter of not falling down the standings and playing Detroit/SanJose in the first round..............

The door to Calgary is closed. At least for now.

"Darryl (Sutter)was interested," reports Derek Morris. "A lot of teams were interested.

"That was very flattering.

"Other teams were just a little more interested than the Flames."

Jokinen for Lombardi and 1st deal seems done according some websites.

Bad move. we lost speed, lost great defensive guy (+/-) and mainly the chemistry is broken. Sutter is making again the same mistake he did with ference/kobasew trade

Eklund was right about Jokinen. I'll put that out there.

Comparing Stuart, who came in as a #3 Dman, and Primeau (4th liner) to getting Jokinen, a #1 center is not a good assessment.

Different team. Flames were nowhere as good back then. Detroit had a cakewalk in 6 games where Kipper took the series to 6 games.

Jokinen slots into #1 spot, Langkow perfect as a # 2 and Conroy takes over for Lombardi as the 3rd line center.

Which center depth chart looks better?:

Jokinen
Langkow
Conroy

OR

Conroy
Langkow
Lombardi
