You guys should consider moving up your trade deadline. When the real trades start coming in, everything will get tied up (and you'll all be more inclined to be paying attention to that than this)

Good thinking... I wouldn't be opposed to that idea, either.

I suggest March 2nd.

Anyways. Chicago Blackhawks still willing to make a few trades.

Not interested in moving roster players unless it's an offer that can't be resisted, although Khabibulin is on the block. Prospects and picks are available for the right price.

TSN - Saturday, February 28th 9.47 p.m.
Bruins land Pronger in blockbuster deal

Boston/Anaheim - The Boston Bruins have acquired defenseman Chris Pronger from the Anaheim Ducks in an attempt to bolster an already strong lineup that is designed for success this postseason. In the deal that is still awaiting league confirmation the Ducks receive center Patrice Bergeron, young defenseman Matt Lashoff, Boston's 2oo8 1st round draft pick Joe Colborne as well as a 3rd round draft pick in 2oo9 and a 2o1o 1st round draft pick in case the Bruins make it to the Stanley Cup Finals this summer.

Anaheim Ducks GM Vipers31 said it was not an easy decision from a personal point of view, as Pronger was an integral part to the Ducks' Stanley Cup win just two years ago. However, with the disappointing performances of the team over stretches of last season and bigger parts of this campaign, he felt it was necessary to make some changes. "Finding a second line center had been an extremely difficult task for us ever since Andy MacDonald left and fixing that has become one of our priorities. Patrice Bergeron is a dream solution to this in our view. At just 22 years of age he adds to our tremendous group of amazingly gifted young players."
Lashoff, also 22, was the Bruins 1st round draft pick in the 2oo5 Entry Draft. Over three years since being drafted, the defenseman appeared in 48 games for the Bruins, scoring one goal and seven assists. This season he has 21 points in 32 games for the Providence Bruins of the AHL.
Joe Colborne was drafted 16th overall last summer. The center prospect currently attends the University of Denver.

Asked whether the Ducks would now be done dealing, Vipers31 told the press "We'll see. Actually, this puts us into a nice situation as the deadline approaches. We've addressed some needs we felt we could improve and were able to do so in one deal. A couple of days ago I would have been thrilled to be in this situation after the deadline. Right now, I can't tell you we're done."
There is plenty of speculation about Ducks captain Scott Niedermayer leaning towards retirement after the year. It is believed that the Ducks could move him would he not give them indication he would like to be back for another season.

Marc-Andre Bergeron (1.25M)TRADED TO AVSMarek Zidlicky (3.35M) TRADED TO RANGERS
Kurtis Foster (1.03M)

Niklas Backstrom (3.1M) TRADED TO AVS
Josh Harding (725K)

Scratches:

Injured: Marian Gaborik (6.33M) TRADED TO RANGERS

GM's general mindset heading towards deadline:

The Wild are still in playoff contention and are looking to buy more than sell. With our current team, draft picks or “up and coming” prospects are out of the picture unless it’s a direct exchange meaning Prospect for Prospect, or team trading pick will be low enough making for the possibility of a blue chip prospect. We are in need of a winger who is capable of having 25-30 goal seasons. All other trades are to fill depth in case of injury. Having 2 true scoring lines with the 3rd as an energy line. 2-Way Forwards or players with history of playing in the trap will be strongly considered.

Core players (take severe overpayment to consider trading any of the following):
- Mikko Koivu, Brent Burns, James Sheppard, Tyler Cuma, Nick Shultz, Kurtis Foster, Cal Clutterbuck

Top 10 prospects:
Tyler Cuma D
Benoit Pouliot C TRADED TO VAN
Peter Olvecky LW/C
Marco Scandella D
Robbie Earl LW
Clayton Stoner D
Morten Madsen C TRADED TO AVS
Justin Falk D TRADED TO SABRES

Draft picks in 2oo9:
1st: Minnesota TRADED TO SABRES
4th: Boston’s
4th: Dallas’s
4th: Minnesota
5th: Minnesota
6th: Minnesota
7th: Minnesota

TRADES
Canucks Trade Jason Jaffray To The Wild For Benoit Pouliot
Rangers Trade Scott Gomez, Frederik Sjostrom, Petr Prucha And A Conditional Pick To The Wild For Gaborick , Zidlicky , Weller
Sabres trade Maxim Maxim Afinogenov to the Wild for their 2009 1st Rd pick and prospect Justin Falk
Avalanche trade Jordan Leopold, Marek Svatos and Andrew Raycroft to the Wild for Niklas Backstrom, MA Bergeron, prospect Morten Madsen and a conditional 2010 3rd rd pick if Backstrom does not resign.

Current Desires
With all major assets been traded at this point, the Minnesota Wild are no longer actively buying. If teams would like to propse trades, all will be entertained still. Our current lines will look like:

Antti Miettinen (2.33M) – Mikko Koivu (3.25M) – Owen Nolan (2.75M)
Andrew Brunette (2.33M) – Scott Gomez (7.35M) – Maxim Afinogenov (3.33M)
Stephane Veilleux (863K) – James Sheppard (1.40M) –Pierre-Marc Bouchard (4.08M)
Derek Boogaard (875K) – Eric Belanger (1.75M) – Cal Clutterbuck (726K)

Scratch: Dan Fritsche (875K)

Brent Burns (3.55M) – Kim Johnnson (4.85M)
Nick Shultz (3.50M) – Martin Skoula (1.80M)
Kurtis Foster (1.03M) - Jordan Leopold (1.5M)

Josh Harding (725K)
Andrew Raycroft (800k)

Pre Trade Spending: 51.34M on active roster
Post Trade Spending: 49.65M on active roster, saving $2M for off season UFA

Colorado's New Game Plan: We just traded for our #1 goalie, so that’s no longer an area of need. We are changing our focus to trading for draft picks and looking towards the future.

Needs:
- Top 6 winger
- 3rd line center
- 2009 or 2010 draft picks

Available Players:
- Ryan Smyth (for right offer)
- Scott Hannan (for right offer)
- Darcy Tucker
- Tyler Arnason
- Ian Laperriere
- Brett Clark
- Ruslan Salei
- send offers for others if you like

TSN - Sunday, March 1st 9.56 a.m.
Ducks continue to fly East - Devils acquire Niedermayer

New Jersey/Anaheim
- Just half a day after sending Chris Pronger to the Boston Bruins, the Ducks traded their captain Scott Niedermayer to the team he began his 18-year NHL career with, the New Jersey Devils. He will be joined by his brother, Rob Niedermayer (34). The Ducks continue their massive, primary defensive rebuilt, acquiring defensmen Paul Martin (27) and Johnny Oduya (27), 19 year old left wing prospect Mattias Tedenby, defensive talent T.J. Smith and a conditional 1st round draft pick.

For Niedermayer, a circle closes as he rejoins the team he's played his first NHL minutes for in '91/'92. The Norris Trophy winner won three cups with the devils before leaving the team after almost 14 years in the summer of 2oo5 to join the Anaheim Mighty Ducks with who he won a fourth title in 2oo7. Afterwards, Niedermayer (35), contemplated retirement and missed 34 games to start the 'o8/'o9 campaign with the Ducks before rejoining the team. His contract expires at the end of the season and he has yet to make a decision whether he will continue his career and possible participate in the 2o1o Winter Olympics in Vancouver.

Ducks GM Vipers31 thanked Niedermayer, calling him "maybe the best player to ever wear a Ducks jersey." A deal like that always was a tough decision, especially after trading Norris Trophy winner Chris Pronger just twelve hours earlier. "There is little doubt that a transition like this isn't going to be seemless, giving away two of the best defenseman in the game that we've been relying on for many, mainly successfull years", he told the media. It would not have been possible without getting back Paul Martin and Johnny Oduya, who he thinks will help to make sure the team will not have to forfeit in the playoff race this season. "When you trade away two of the best defenseman in the game, your main target obviously is not to win hockey games right now - that's not rocket science. If you look at our defense on paper, it certainly isn't as good up front as it was yesterday, and that's not taking anything away from the great assets we've gained in the process."

Important for the decision to trade Niedermayer was that he hasn't made a decision regarding his future with the team, or to be more precise, the game in general. "Everybody remembers the situation we've been in after the Cup win, and it certainly wasn't easy. You won't hear a bad word about Scotty from me because I don't have any. Burkie gave him all the time he would need and I think he deserved that. Had Burkie then given him a deadline he might not have been with the team ever again, so even in hindsight, I think it was a good decision." However, with the memory of the Cup win two years ago fading, this year's Ducks were not nearly in a that comfortable situation and decided to move on. "To me, the fact he has a hard time figuring out the decision again is kind of a sign. This time, we are under some pressure and with the offer from New Jersey we felt we made the right call." Niedermayer has publicly stated that leaving the Devils almost five years ago had been the most difficult decision of his career, maybe until contemplating about retirement in 2oo7. He has expressed being open to getting back to New Jersey and now he will in an attempt to crown a tremendous career with a fifth Stanley Cup.

"Paul Martin is a huge part of the deal for us and will help to make Scotty's loss as small as possible", Vipers31 said. The defenseman is signed for another season at $3.8 mio. Oduya is a free agent at the end of the year, but after freeing up some money Vipers31 expressed his intentions to keep him around on the long term. "We won't wait long to get into talks with him. He has never been traded before, so you'd imagine it would be tough for him to leave a team that has a good shot at winning it all right now, but he seems really thrilled to be hear already. We've talked a few words yet, but I'm pretty certain he can very well imagine to be a part of this for a long time."

Mattias Tedenby (19) was New Jersey's 1st round draft pick in 2oo8. The left wing currently plays with Jonköping of the Swedish Elite League. "He resembles our willingness to adapt our style to the way the game has changed. We felt we were lacking some speed and skill and he's going to provide that sooner or later, and we're thinking sooner rather than later." Miller attends the Northern Michigan University and is a versatile two way defenseman with great size, solid skating and a good shot.

The Ducks also received a conditional draft pick from the Devils. In case the Devils advance to the Stanley Cup Finals this summer, the Ducks receive the Devils' 1st round draft pick in 2oo9. This is the same condition that is on a 2o1o first round draft pick the Ducks acquired in the Pronger-deal from the Bruins. "That way, we think we end up with a great shot of getting one of those 1st round picks. Obviously we can't end up getting both, but especially with those two defenseman, we are optimistic we will have an additional choice come this or next summer."

I am also in desperate need of a first round pick because I have recently traded the 2009 and 2010 picks away.
