I wish the Oilers would've given a shot at Vaananen.

Metropolit could be useful, he's a little inconsistant but has shown some descent play before.
Pair him up with Kovalev's inconsistant play, and who knows, 2 negatives could make a positive!?

Great, I didn't think there was any chance Vaananen would fall that far. He's definite upgrade over both Davison and Nycholat and isn't too far off from O'Brien. Nycholat should be sent down to Manitoba now, or dealt if possible.

Good luck Vaananen! Wish it was Jones instead of you.

Adding them would still be a negative. Somehow we need to multiply them.
"How many Kovalevs do you have?"
"Metropolit"
"Nice"

Damn, sorry binghamton fans, i guess you're stuck with gerber till the end of the year.

Metropolit and Vaananen are good players, just casualties of the cap. Good luck to them, i hope they somehow prove the flyers wrong.

Both players are underrated. Not surprised they were claimed.

Most nights you will not even notice him on the ice, and that is a good thing for a 5-6 Dman, good pick up

Big guy, defensive defenseman, doesn't make a ton of mistakes and doesn't make much of an impact on the game either. Adequate skater, adequate puck mover for a defensive defenseman, adequate bottom pairing defenseman overall.

I don't doubt the Oilers could have used Vaananen, but they clearly have too many contracts, and weren't willing to ditch any of them for a waiver pick-up.
