Metro has more fights then he does hits this year, and he's got 1 fight.

seriously though, he wasnt physical for the Flyers at all

Vaananen was far from awesome. Ever since Parent took his spot he played like crap.

with that being said, i still wish Jones was moved instead

I guess that's a good thing, seeing how Carbo loves to use the 4th line in all situations.

I stand by what I said about Holmgren in the other thread. Horrific asset management and identification of talent on the team. It should have never came to this.

It looks like the Habs traded Begin so they can pick up Metropolit.

I agree with this. Parent's comeback makes this move (over Jones) much easier to swallow. I still think Jones is as good as gone in the next week, along with Lupul.

Metropolit sucks though, don't mind seeing him leave at all. Powe brings much more to the ice than Metro. Maybe he'll find a linemate he can work with offensively in MTL, but he obviously didn't find anyone here.

I don't like the acquisition of Metropolit. I have a feeling that he'll suck for us.

Is GM MG gearing up to trade one of our dmen, because looking at Vaananen's stats, he isn't a puck moving dman, which is what the Nucks need.

With Vaananen, the Nucks have 11 NHL ready dmen (8 on the active roster, 1 on IR, 2 in the AHL)

Nucks now have:
Bieksa
Mitchell
Ohlund
Edler
Salo
O'Brien
Vaananen
Davison
Nycholat (IR)
McIver (AHL)
Baumgartner (AHL)

Salo, Ohlund, Raymond and a conditional 1st for Jaybow

If Gillis could pull that off he'd be a saint.

Kinda parallel, isn't it?

They just needed depth and Begin wanted more icetime.

So once the dust settled, we traded Begin for Janik and Metropolit. Not spectacular by any means, but not bad at all.

Having said that, I don't think that Gainey is done at all. It kind of looks like he's moving pieces to make a bigger deal.

Trading two top 4 Dmen and a bad prospect for a UFA?.

Honestly that would be a brutal deal.

1st/bieksa/raymond is fair for jaybo.

Giving up salo would be stupid, He gets hurt but is clearly our best Dman this year.

Not a coincidence when he got hurt we went on a huge slide.

Metropolit has some skill, but he isn't very physical at all. He's also been pretty snakebitten. Overall, pretty good player.

Vaananen was awesome in the beginning of the year, but Alberts much, much improved player, and Parent's return made him expendable. He hasn't been anywhere close to where he was at the beginning of the year. He's still a good player if given steady minutes.

Metropolit is serviceable as a 4th line center, I don't really care that he's gone, I think Powe can serve his role better anyway. Vaananen on the other hand was critically horrible asset management, he's a very solid defenseman who has consistently been better than Alberts when he was given playing time.

the habs' 4th line probably plays as much as any other team's 3rd line, when tanguay and latendresse come back from injury, the 4th line is gonna be something like laraque-metropolit-kostopoulos/dago, with 1/2 laraque shifts played by a decent player

I like Metropolit. No need for him on the Sens... but he's a good player.

Vaananen is going get ripped apart, by people who claim we are overrating him. Mark my words. Just because he was picked up by Vancouver.

I like him. I wanted Montréal to get him.

You get a player in Janik too who might come into play if Gainey is looking to make a big move and has to give up someone like Gorges or something.

I'll take 2 depth players for one, as noted in previous threads (Vaananen + Metropolit > Jones)

I feel bad that we lost Vannenen, great pick up for Vancouver.

Metropolit on the other hand makes the players on his line worse. Thank god he's gone.

Hum. That will be hard to do with players on Montreal's 4th line

I still thinking waiving Vaan was a bad move. By IB's numbers Metro +Kukkonen would have been enough room for Briere

I don't know why none of the lottery teams never picked them up. I was hoping the leafs would give Vaananen a shot. Probably could have dealt him too for some late pick, ah well.
