Pavol Demitra Appreciation thread

Since after his injury and being demoted, Demitra has stepped up his game a ton! Just look at the stats. 3 goals 11 assists in 11 games in Feb. The guy is skating very well, and creating chances every night.

I love how he shoots from all angles.

But I especially love his bi polar celebrations. One game he's fist pumping, screaming, looking to the heavens after a goal. The next he puts his shoulders down and skates to the bench. When congratulated by his team mates he says "uhh uhhh... I play good. I shoot puck.. it go in net, we get score.... i'm try to help out"

Demitra is truly a leader on this team.

LOVE HIM!

His last empty netter made me explode in laughter. The way he shot it and celebrated after was priceless.

My favourite is when he took a slapshot on an empty net from 5 feet out. That was priceless

I like Demitra - generates a lot of offense, quick on the forecheck, and versatile on the powerplay. Is pretty much a PPG guy when healthy.

only when he works hard.

when he slacks, he sucks....bad.

but he's been very good the past couple weeks....which is good to see after some horrible plays a month or two ago.

Those shootout losses to Minnesota at the hands of this man are long gone, eh?

One of my favorite celebrations of this year:

(Quelle surprise, it's practically an empty-netter. Priceless open-mouthed celebration, nevertheless.)

How about we just keep posting in the Kesler/Burrows appreciation threads.

Or better yet, start a Sami Salo one.

I like Demitra but I don't think he's been playing well enough to warrant this thread. I will however add that he's about as good as I've seen at apparently getting things done offensively without really trying all that hard-- empty netters, bad angle goals, what looks like hoper passes resulting in a goal... I'm not complaining, that's all to his credit, but it's pretty noticeable. He seems like such a "I don't know what you guys are working so hard for, just do this and you'll get a goal" type player, if that makes any sense.

I actually thought he had his best game of the season tonight, even if the stats don't back it. He looked good out there

That made a whole whack of sense. I'd be even more impressed if you could quantify that with stats. Interesting qualitative observation, though...

I love Demo most of the time. I mean, he's exactly what I expected when we signed him. Skill guy who mostly leaches off of others, has some monster games, has some games where he's invisible. Celebrates every goal like it's his last and genuinely loves being here. I'm happy with him.

He has been exactly what I expected. A pace of 60-65 points if healthy for the full season, solid secondary offence.

Exactly. As someone mentioned above. I'l take him at 4 mill over naslund any day. His skating is better then naslund right now.

I pegged him at 25 goals 60-70 points. I'm very pleased. Even more so, with the addition of Mats Sundin.

Best part is he doesn't suck in shootouts like a certain 2 year, 4 mill per player does that we used to have.

4/10, 40%, as of Feb 25th/09.

More like, it's good that Demitra doesn't suck in shootouts when in a Canuck uniform, like a certain 2 year, 4 mill per player that we used to have.

Exactly, and even with Naslund he has been crap in the shootouts ever since he started off hot.

I can see where I might have come off confusing in my last post..

Actually, Demo's 3 for 6 - 50%.

4/10 is the "other guy".
