Guerin Agrees To Waive NTC

Per Chris Botta, Bill Guerin has agreed to waive his NTC for the right deal. Speculation is that the 'right deal' means staying in the East so he isn't that far from his family, but we'll see.

Good news for prospective buyers.

Wonder where he'll end up... are the Devils looking for forward depth or are those bridges burned?

Guerin to Rangers for a 3rd?

Ok maybe not. Hes not coming to the Rangers anyway. He will fetch a ok return though.

I'd love to get Guerin to Washington somehow.

In all honesty, I don't see his value as being much beyond a third rounder. Maybe we get a 2nd if we are lucky.

Because he wouldn't sign with the Isles otherwise.

He'd be a good fit in Calgary, replacing Rene Bourque.

Botta is saying that Guerin will only approve a deal to a team in the east. So, Calgary and EDM are out.

Its the deadline....a vet like him will get more then he should(as usual during this time)....you will at least get a 2nd.

Sorta hard to guess what his value is. I wouldn't be surprised to see a 2nd and a mid to low level prospect. Or a 3rd and a mid level prospect OR depth guy.

Don't be so sure about that. He may be the best forward available at the deadline because so many teams (namely out west) are so close to the 8th playoff spot.

Well, if that happens, I'll be happy. I don't think he is worth that much, but overpayments at the deadline, death, and taxes seem like the only inevitables in life.

Anyways, if i'm a team in the east looking at the playoffs (bruins, caps, devils, flyers, canadiens, panthers, sabres, rangers, hurricanes, penguins), and i want to add a forward, unless i have cap considerations, i'd much rather have guerin than antro/poni. (the only other good offensive forwards who seem to be definitely available).

Plus, there's less competition for guerin because 13 WC teams aren't inquiring about him.

also, i'd love to see NYI pick up ANOTHER 2nd round pick this summer. They allready have 3, plus 2 1sts, and a very early 3rd. This draft could make them contenders 3-4 years from now.

Since the Devils already brought Shanahan back to the team where he started his NHL career they might as well take a shot at bringing Guerin back to where he started his NHL career too......

May as well. Think about that forward corps:

Parise-Zajac-Langenbrunner
Elias-Rolston-Gionta
Guerin-Madden-Zubrus/Shanahan
Shanahan/Zubrus-Holik-Clarkson

Look out, Boston!

I'd take him on the Habs. Guerin's a right-handed shot and can still score some big goals.

Guerin
Gervais
conditional pick (if Guerin does not re-sign)

Higgins
Dandenault

Fair enough?

Guerin will probably not resign with Monreal, neither will Dandenault with New York. Basically it's like Higgins for Gervais and a conditional pick.

Pittsburgh would make a good fit(they in need of wingers).

Maybe a three way deal

Islanders
Pitt 2nd
Team X 3rd

Pittsburgh
Guerin

Team X
Satan

Isles rob Habs blind here.

I'm also surprised that the fact that Guerin is not a "proven playoff performer" based on one playoffs two years ago hasn't been brought up yet.

Although the guy looks like he's gassed so he probably won't do much again.
