Toronto - Pittsburgh

With the recent trade with Pitt and Ana. This is leading to something more for both teams.

To Toronto:
First round pick 09
Eric Tangradi

To Pitt:
Antropov
Van Ryan

Whitney turns into Antopov, Kunitz, Van Ryan. Which is a great Return for Pittsburgh. Tangradi was drafted by Burke so could be a chance for Burkie to get a top prospect back plus a pick. Toronto could throw in another lower draft pick anywhere in the range of a 3rd to a 5th in this deal. This adds another top 4 defensmen for Pitt which they most likely need and a top 6 fowards who proably has a better scoring touch than Kunitz.

How about Tangradi for Antropov strait up....

Goligoski is a better puck mover then Van Ryan they dont need him anyways.

Antropov for the 1st, or for a 2nd + Tangradi makes more sense. I don't see why Pittsburgh would want Van Ryn.

Dead thread. Kunitz and Tangradi to Pit for Whitney.

Just thought Pitt could be looking to add a top 4 dman who can play on the second unit power play. Now that Whitney is gone they are not very deep on defense so Van Ryan could be a solution to add depth

Gonchar Orpik
Gill Van Ryan
Scuderi Letang
Eaton

Letang and Goligoski can take up the slack without a doubt. The Pens have no need for Van Ryn.

This would translate into Whitney and a 2nd for Antropov and Kunitz for the Pens. What do you think? I kind of think Pittsburgh is getting ripped off, but then I thought about them aquiring 2 wingers making $5.77M between them (this year). This is a desperate need for them.

BTW, I checked Hockeybuzz for the cap hit on Kunitz and clicked on Anaheim, but they had already changed it to Pittsburgh. That was fast.

I agree I think Tangradi alone would be enough to land Antropov. Tangradi has more value then a late first round pick that is for sure.

It seems to make sense, I dont think Pitt wants to count on Letang and Goli in the playoffs so Van Ryan gives them that added experience and veteran presence. If Pitt fans are opposed to giving up a prospect and a first for Antropov then they should be encouraged they get a top 4 defensmen out for the playoff run.

I really like Van Ryn a lot so i'll be sad to see him go, but Pittsburgh needs to make playoffs this year. Id do it from either side.

Pittsburgh JUST acquired Tangradi, who they probably have high hopes for. Why would they trade him to the Leafs for Antropov?

Why the hell would we want Antropov over Tangradi? By the end of next year Tangradi will probably be better anyways, on a rookie deal, and only 21 years old. He is EVERYTHING the Pens need in a prospect...skill, size, toughness. He is going to look great on Sid or Geno's wing for a considerable time, as opposed to Antropov there for a short time.

AND you want a first rounder? jeesh..

You've got to be kidding. Tangradi will need a couple of years in the AHL before he's NHL ready, let alone up to Antropov's level.

Terrible for the Pens. They wont trade their 1st rounder and I doubt that Shero would trade the prospect that he just picked up for Antropov.

A definite "no" from Pittsburgh. Antropov will get his undeserved money just like Malone, Erat, etc., but in the meantime I'm not giving anything up for him in a year where he still might not help us make the playoffs. I like the player, he's just overrated in this thread.

Pitt would kill themselves cap wise next year if they have Van Ryan. Also how long is he on IR.
