The Official we don't need Briere thread

This thread was probably not needed and has been discussed before but I'm bored out of my mind, and have drank about 8 cups of coffee in an hour.

Get Danny to waive his NTC, free up a ass load of cap. Get good goaltender and/or defensemen in return and win the stanley cup! We have enough offensive talent without him, most teams don't even stack up even without Briere. Come on, guys you know it's that simple

This is dumb.

We aren't getting a goalie this year with or without Briere.

I know i posted this already but why is Jeff Carter out? Is he sick? flu? injury?

He left practice and Briere has replaced him on the 2nd line.

Does anyone have any info on this....?

Thanks

People need to learn to accept he isnt the 6 foot 4 230 pound forward that hits everything in sight that everyone loves in this town.
He gets paid to score goals and be an offensive centerman.
Of course I am frustrated hes been hurt virtually all season, but when we get him back and healthy which I really believe will happen. we are going to have matchup nightmares with the lines we are going to be able to roll out with everyone healthy.

Someone mentioned in the Post-Pens game thread he's been battling the flu.

I also agree. This thread is stupid. It's amazing how one of the players that turned the team around from being the worst team's in the league to being a top 4 team in a single season is horribly hated on even during injury. Yes we overpaid, and that was to prevent the team from falling apart anymore. They'll figure something out and how to work with him/get him back in the lineup, in Homer we trust.

We probably dont need him for the rest of the regular season but we definately need him in the playoffs. Last year we were not good enough and we even had Briere. Among other things, we definately need him.

Sign me up for this.

I never liked the Briere signing and I would love if he would accept a trade.

Briere is lighting and exciting to watch. Unless you can land someone like Jay-bo or Kaberle or Pronger you don't trade him.

For the record i'd put him back on the top line with Richards and Gagne

lines of:

Gagne - Richards - Briere
Hartnell - Carter - Lupul
Upshall - Metro - Knuble

No one has forgot. The same could be said about Biron. Everyone is forgetting that he was the sole reason we even made it to the ECF but we've thrown him under the bus.

All I'm saying is that we can survive without Briere and I believe we could even be better without him as a defensive liability. We have plenty of goal scorers on this team. You don't usually win a stanley cup without a complete team. What about Briere for Bulin? Obviously the trade would need to include other players but it seems realistic.

Briere tearing up his NMC and then us moving his 7 year 6.5 mil contract in a league where the cap will probably be LOWERED next season. Realistic, you say?

I think, even in this world, gumdrops and candycanes will fall from the ****ing sky before that happens. I think not only will pigs fly, but so will people with bad body odor...just floating in the sky...away from us showered individuals...before anything like this happens.

Briere+ Jones and possibly Lupul trade= cap dump FTW. And that'd be more than enough for a goalie, but who? Briere+ Jones for Lehtonen? Hiller? Habby? N Backstrom? I'm grasping at straws here because nobody wants to give up a legit #1 goalie, no matter what you offer. I think the better option is Briere+ Jones for a good defenseman, then just sign a goalie as a FA in the summer.

Except its not an option at all, because no GM with half a brain picks up two players who cut off about 9 million on the cap, while one is injured and the other is, for all intents and purposes, an overpaid 4th-5th defenseman.

Do we need him? Not necessarily, no.
Will the team be better with him? Most definitely.

Like, I'm sorry, if Thornton was out on the Sharks and they were still a MIDDLE OF THE PACK playoff team do you think there would be posts like "We don't need Thornton! Trade him!"

It's not like we're first in the conference by 15 points, we're only 3 points ahead of the 8th seed. The guy has played 9 games. He was a major reason why we made the Conference Finals last year.

those aren't clutch goals they're all early in the series. Game 6-7 winners are all that counts apparently.

I concur 1000000%

I hate people that say this kind of stuff.
If he's healthy during the playoffs there is no one right now better.
