Yeah, you clearly haven't watched him play at all in the last two seasons or so. His physical game isn't huge, granted, but he's not soft there either. He was quite chippy in the playoffs. His defensive game is actually very good, he's one of the Caps' most effective PKers, he's great on the backcheck at stealing the puck.
His only downsides are too many injuries and penalties.
