HE stopped over 40 shots and gave up one goal, not sure how you can have an issue with that performance.

Quantity of shots =/= quality of shots.

Let me get this in before the game starts. For the third straight game I continue to be amazed that JM has not called up a scoring forward to replace Stillman instead of going with McLean or Kreps so they can not only be their usual non-productive offensive selves on a "scoring line" but drag down their linemates to their non-productive level as well.

Kreps is more skilled than Matthias and brings more overall to the lineup.

He played well enough to win. That's the extent of his play.

He wins faceoffs. Period. And I was thinking more along the lines of Repik as a call-up.

Guess we'll have to agree to disagree.

He does more than win faceoffs. Repik is way too small. Def wouldn't want him up. He didn't show a lot of "skill" when he was up here. I'm sure if we had a legitimate option to call someone up JM would do it.

Seems to me we did just fine with all those call-ups during the Western Canadian Road Trip earlier in the year when just about everyone was out during that swing.

Characterizing it "just fine" is a gross overstatement. We got exceptionally clutch goals and outstanding team effort and defense.

i agree. the notion that repik would help things right now is a bit absurd, imo. he fit into a roster for a week that was playing exceptionally well together. if i was going to do anything, it'd probably be to bring up someone like mccardle to try to get another line working down low. what this team needs is a reminder of what got them here.

all that said, i've got a better feeling about today than yesterday. the rangers game was inconsistent at best and we got lucky to come out of there with 2 points. again, yesterday, a loose effort defensively, much as we saw in boston (though again, not necessarily for lack of effort or legs). it'll be good to get right back out there and forget about yesterday. a win here gives us the opportunity to come out of the trip 3-2 with a win vs ATL. wouldn't be bad. i'd have taken that beforehand. i think coach reigns the boys in and we play a patient game, are much tighter defensively, and come away with a 3-1 win.
