Montreal and Edmonton can get pretty insane during the playoffs. As for the drums thats simply a cultural thing: I think its more or less the football connection as I have frequently seen drums at the Soccer games in Toronto. Besides they have they're own traditions, I hear setting cop cars aflame is a popular activity in Mtl come playoffs.

The perfect ending for the "first" season with a game 7 in Kazan between thow great teams and two great Russian Leaders Yashin and Morozov.

Ok maybe with the drums but what is stoping nhl fans from signing during game and only reacting to the action and the big screen???

I'm in Montreal and the crowd is good but it's only a reaction driven crowd even in the playoffs...

Loko upset tomorrow !

What I find really cool, is that the first "Gagarin Cup" will be won on the Space day, April 12th (For our American/Canadian friends: It's when Yuri Gagarin went to space for the first time)

I am not a Montreal fan, but there is no better place to watch a playoff hockey game than at the Bell center. It is the cathedral of hockey.

It's unfortunate that it happens to be on Easter day for us NA's though.

"I am not a Montreal fan, but there is no better place to watch a playoff hockey game than at the Bell center. It is the cathedral of hockey."

You clearly don't know what you're talking about. There's nothing special there. Yes they now have 21 000 each game but the crowd doesn't sing doesn't bang the drums doesn't have large flags, they only react to the play and react to the big screen to make noise.
Trust me Ive been there often.

Maybe for North America but they are not even in the same world that crowds in Moscow Omsk Yaroslavl Kazan...

"It's unfortunate that it happens to be on Easter day for us NA's though. "

what????You're really making no sense once again...

So no name for the mvp trophy?

If AK BARS wins tomorrow it would mean that Kazan are hockey and football champs in Russia at the same time !

Ron Mclean, bob cole, and other CBC anouncers say so, and I think they might have a little more knowledge than you, but then again I don't know
doesn't get better than this ----> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oRtnOIUU0fc
Easter -you have never heard of it? Let me elaborate. Easter = Sleep in + Church + Family... or simply a bad time for a championship hockey game for us in Canada/US.

So now Bob Cole knows about European Hockey Crowds now I've heard it all...Concentrate on the slovak league please...

NHL= SLEEPING CROWD

Europe= Football Crowds...

I'll bet there more people in USA that watch today's finals than nhl finals meaning the Russian immigrants watch today and for nhl finals no one in usa watches anyway !!!!

GO LOKO

Morozov's a clutch man you're right. Unlike Yashin.

Yashin is getting old. He was overshadowed tonight by his linemates Vasicek and Irgl.

Congratulations to Kazan!

You guys are pathetic Yashin at 35 leads his team in scoring 2nd. in the playoffs leads them to the final game...

Morozov is simply too good that's it he will remain Russia's Captain.

Me too. I think Heikkilä took this defeat very personally since he didn't even appear in the press conference after the game.

Heikkilä has done a good job in Yaroslavl. They have won a medal in each year Heikkilä has coached the team. Just not the Gold.

Yaroslavl is the best hockey town in Russia and they do a great job of developing new players, unlike Ak Bars who had NONE home grown player on their roster tonight. Kirill Petrov is the only player I can name that has come through the Kazan's junior program and he didn't play tonight.

Teams like Ak Bars Kazan who are rich but do very little player development are not good for Russian hockey. These rich teams should take more responsibility on developing players instead of just buying them.

Congrats 2 both teams it was a really good series, lol even though my team won I'm a bit sad for Yashin, in the final for two years in a row and they still couldn't win the title.

I must say, the Gagarin Cup is one of the tackiest, ugliest trophies I've ever seen. It would have been acceptable, but what's up with all the black pucks lining the bowl?
