I was shocked that CBJ was mentioned twice during the second period broadcast on NBC. I don't think I have ever heard mention of them on any national broadcast I've tuned in to. Maybe they will actually show a game next year and if we are really making headway nationally, one not against the Wings.
I've heard us mentioned on Versus and HNIC. Started with Mason and has picked up steam. We are now considered a valid topic.
I'll never forget the Sunday nationally televised game against the Wings I believe it was 2 seasons ago in which we were absolutely demolished and embarrassed. Actually come to think of it, that might have been our last nationally televised game.
The guy that threw the octopus was a few rows in front of me. It smelled horrible. He threw the thing and then sprinted up the stairs and out of the arena before security could react.
My wife was so angry, because she was wearing her Leclaire sweater and when we went through security, they went over us pretty well, including making us lift up our CBJ sweaters. She wanted to know how someone got an octopus in when she felt like she went through a strip search. After that, it's rare that she will wear a Jackets jersey.
Back on topic, I was shocked and pleased when they mentioned the Jackets as one of the league's best teams down the stretch.
Well, I was searching around for clips of old games so I could see a little more of FoxTrax (specifically, why it was considered such a bad thing - I think of it as the NHL TV coverage equivalent of showing scrimmage and first down lines on a football field, but, hey, I'm a n00b, what do I know ). In the process, I came across this - while it wasn't what I was looking for, I still found it of interest. Mostly because I instantly recognized Jeff Rimer's voice and Doug MacLean's face behind the bench.
It's almost kinda creepy.

Thanks, Howson, for cleaning up MacLean's toxic waste. Welcome, Kekalainen; let's get good things built!
BTW, Melrose and Buccigross were giving mad props to the CBJ on Sportscenter after the OT win Wednesday night. Honestly, I don't remember the last time they showed our highlights on there.

It's been awhile. Glad to see us finally getting some props. I can honestly say that it is deserved and I love this team. Everything about it, the work ethic, the winning, the personalities, ect. It's been a magical season so far and I can't wait for us to be playing PLAYOFF HOCKEY!

Jeff Marek gives us a lot of attention on Hockey Night in Canada Radio which is carried daily on Sirius. Hitch was on today but I missed it. Marek is a huge Torres fan and brings him up all the time (usually says Torres is best when he reacts and doesn't think too much on the ice). Marek and Hrudey have talked a lot about Steve Mason as well and openly discussed him as potential rookie of the year and as a Vezina candidate.
It looks more and more like the Flames will be facing the BJ's in the first round. That sucks. Since calling up Steve Mason on Nov. 5, they've gone 34-22-4. That's about a 46 win season over a full year. Since adding Antoine Vermette at the trade deadline they've lost just twice. This is not a team I want to face right off the bat.
Also read the comments, they're pretty interesting as well.

Awesome to be feared.
And although technically, we had Vermette for the Nashville game, we really have only lost 1 game with him in the lineup.
And one comment referred to Vegas odds on CBJ in SC Final.....I don't know about now, but I do know that the CBJ were 75-1 odds to win the Cup in September. I'm sure they're still long odds, but I've got my $10 betting slip in a safe spot

Rimer and MacLean go back a long way and MacLean brought Rimer to Columbus. What I find interesting is that something must have happened. When the Jackets played Toronto recently, MacLean went out of his way to trash Rimer repeatedly on his radio show. It didn't sound like teasing and in fun. It sounded like pure disdain and anger.

I had a buddy out in Vegas 2 weeks ago and he said the odds were 50-1.
I hate seeing anything about Brassard now...every time I see him mentioned in these lists or one of his highlights I almost tear up thinking about how much we're missing him.
What are you smoking? I know we'd be better with Brassard still in the line-up but, brought to tears Come on!
We're more than likely going to make the playoffs even without him. Look ahead, and count your blessings for the fact that he will be hear for years to come.

Just opened this weeks SI and see that a nice article on the Jackets leads the "Inside the NHL" feature. Great to see some love from a big national publication. Not that the cover the NHL in depth, but the do treat it with some respect (nice articles on Brodeur & Bobby Orr recently).
Anyway, thought I'd point it out. I looked for the article on SI.com, but couldn't find it. Maybe someone less technically challenged than I can link it.
Note to mods, feel free to merge to Interesting Info thread, if appropriate. I just was pretty tickled to make SI!
