Shout out to our buddy & scout from Edmonton..

Mr. Real Estate...

I believe at the time Howson signed Hedja.. this Edmonton fan said that was the best most under the radar signing that occurred that year. Lowe had Jan on hold, Howson came in and offered him a very cheap/fair contract with term.. gave Jan some security. Gave the Jackets the best shut down Dman they have ever had.

Hedja got better with the release of Foote (touted as Mr. Shutdown).. after Jan didn't have to cover for the aging vet his plus minus went up.

I don't know about the size of lower body.. never been close enough to see if he bears resemblance to a bowling pin/ or a pear.. but I love to see him roll those hips right through a sniper coming down the boards. Most of his great hip checks go un noticed, and that is probably just fine with this soft spoken dman.

Well tell him congrats from the stands!!!

Nikita is going to be a star.. watching his work in a certain game against the Wild showed me the guy has a nose for the puck.. he's not scared to get his nose dirty or to give a sheepish smile when he buries it..

gotta love when he smiled that "millio-dollar smile" after the hat trick right?

As an Oilers fan, I was quite perplexed to see that they didn't resign him when given the chance. That said, I'm thrilled that he's with Columbus right now. Totally underrated, but I kinda like the "under the radar" thing.

Dave King's done in Russia.

Knowing very little about him (as he coached well before my time as a CBJ fan), but seeing some praise for him when mentioned on here, anyone think he might be a worthwhile addition to the coaching staff? Especially if the Pens hire Noel?

I'll take him over Noel AND Agnew.

Heres the story...http://slapshot.blogs.nytimes.com/20...layoffs-begin/

It would be an interseting situation King and Hitch in the same room or on the same bench.

Certainly couldn't be a step back. Hell, get rid of Noel and it's addition by subtraction.

This post was a waste of time.

I'll admit though, that I expected more news today and there has been absolutely nothing! Not even a puck rakers post.

Just found this though: http://www.hockeyfights.com/news/116988

Chimer placed on the IR.

King would be amazing to bring back. He really was a loved guy by the players and I'm not sure but I think I recall a year or two ago rumblings about him possibly being hired as the video break-down coach but that never happened. King was a very likable guy and I would love to see him in Columbus again. He was a good coach who got canned because of a moron running the show. He's one guy who could get his players to give a damn.

We're 6th in the West, but we'd be 11th in the East. That's interesting.

Not really. If we were in the East based on our record against the East I'm confident in saying we would have a much better record. With our defense we might even be on of the top 4 teams in the east.

Yup. The East is a much weaker conference. For sure.

His trade value will definitely drop after he croaks....at this point the Blue Jackets might want to think about putting him in the hospital or something....

http://blog.syracuse.com/crunch/2009...crun.html#more

Syracuse Crunch forward Nikita Filatov stopped in to see Syracuse Crunch coach Ross Yates on Monday.

Yates didn't like what he saw.

Yates said the rookie had obviously lost weight. Anyone who has seen Filatov knows he doesn't have much to lose.

Filatov has been ill for several weeks with what's believed to be a sinus infection. It has left him congested and weak. He was scheduled to see a doctor again on Monday to try to pin down what's going on.

I would say bring the guy to Columbus to monitor him (not recall), but well you know...our medical staff certainly has its own fair share of short-comings.

Avery's on re-entry waivers. Would you want him?

No way, he's an idiot. I think the dude has lost his mind if you ask me. Standing in front of goalies waving his stick and hands around thinking he will block their vision... he's a basket case imo.

Nope, the last thing we need are his antics and attitude during our first playoff run.

To borrow from Hunter S. Thompson, I feel the same way about Avery as I do about herpes.

Freddy's been hot in Russia. I posted the stats in another thread, but he had a 1.61 GAA in 11 games.
