I'm talking about the bean counters up high, who use statistics to back up everything they do because nobody wants to make a decision on their own. Don't think they don't know how many page hits each one of their sports columns get.

Anyone know if the CBJ plan on having a 3rd jersey (again) anytime soon? It looks like 19 teams have debuted a 3rd jersey.

I know they can introduce one, but have not heard anything about a third jersey. Would think that with possible greater exposure that a playoff appearance would bring, not diluting the brand for another year would be a good choice. A successful year next year can result in some current jersey sales and then a third being introduced before the next season could generate new interest.

For a laugh, look at what TSN had regarding Mason back at the end of November. My how things have changed.

Quote:
The lanky south paw has developed quickly and looks to have the ability to become a No. 1 NHL netminder in about two to three years. He took his game to another level leading team Canada to gold at the WJC but an unfortunate injury took him out of the Memorial Cup. After three seasons he has compiled a record of 77-23-7, five shutouts, a 2.90 GAA and an impressive .916 save percentage. His postseason numbers are equally solid with a 14-7 record, one shutout with a 3.05 GAA and a .921 save percentage. Mason shows good quickness, agility and lateral movement in and outside of his crease and remains in compact form. He has good positioning, plays aggressively and does not give much to look at. He is improving on his shot recovery and rebound control to help his defensemen clear pucks away and keep them out of danger. When his shot recovery gets stronger, the physical and mental stamina will go to another level. He will flash a quick glove hand and is using his blocker more effectively for directing pucks to the corners. He is a poised and relaxed netminder who can handle a high percentage of quality shots without being rattled. His ability to move and play the puck will be a tremendous asset at the NHL level to help his defencemen and keep the forecheck honest. Due to an injury to Pascal LeClaire, he made the jump to the NHL and made quite an impression in the first five games he's played. Expect him to play in the AHL for the majority of season and fight for ice time with Dan LaCosta.

Someone asked about a 3rd Jersey during the summer (I think it was at the Season Ticket Holder meetings with Priest, H&H?), and they said they didn't want to introduce one for the next couple of years because they'd changed the primary jersey so recently, and they wanted to build the 'brand' around them.

It sounded like if they ever choose to do a third jersey, it's going to be awhile.

Scott Burnside of ESPN. com credits Jason Williams

Scott Burnside, the resident hockey expert at ESPN with Pierre Le Brun, credits the Jackets's playoff push to the Williams acquisition:

Amazing they got this guy with really no cost to the Jackets.

Willy's definitely made an impact. What's remarkable (as he said) is that we got him for Clay Wilson and (basically, due to the SJ 6th) Jody Shelley. And instead of being just a 3rd or 4th line low-risk grinder as some thought he might have been, he's come in & played remarkably well.

And it's going to be fun watching that RJ-Vermette-Williams line work the rest of the way if they play like they have.

I liked the pickup of Williams the day I heard about it... I'm wondering though, with our musical chairs filling our 6th defenseman spot could we have used Wilson? Bottomline however, williams has helped us greatly.

Burnside's a joke. Williams has been a great fit, but Burnside ripped Howson and the CBJ organization for not having a clue back in November and is covering his ass by crediting Williams for the turnaround instead of admitting he ****ed up by overlooking guys like Mason, voracek, and Brassard so he could pinpoint Picard as one of the reasons the CBJ would continue to fail.

No. Wilson isn't the type of player that it seems our management or coaches want to solidify the bottom pairing. Russel-Wilson? Yikes.

That was a great trade.

I can't believe there wasn't a thread or post(s) or maybe I just missed it amongst all the other really pertinent hockey threads and discussions around here.

Bottom line, I'm searching for a way to view this.

I just have to bump this to offer extreme surprise that our collective 'CBJ ear to the ground' failed miserably.
Somehow we can catch when our goaltender farts on a Canadian radio station, but miss this?!

Come forward if you saw this please!
