Toews. I realize that he's the least proven at this point, but I think his all-around game, steely determination, and the deep, talented, and promising young team he's already a part of will put him over the top.
depends on how each individual define's greatest career. If you go by the whole package, cups, points, leadership, awards etc.... then ill go in this order.
Parise
Toews
Getzlaf
Staal
I think Parise ends up with 2 or 3 cups and is a captain in at least 1 of those, while scoring 55 goals, and 110 points in his prime, while having a long career probably playing till he is in his late 30's.
I think Toews will possibly win 2 cups while being a captain, and be a 100 point player in his peek, and having a nice long career playing till he is in his late 30's, maybe 40's.
I think Getzlaf will have 2 cups by the time he hangs them up, and will be a 110 point player in his prime, but will start to regress late in his career.
I think Staal will end up with 1 cup, and have the highest peek probably scoring 120 points one year but will not have the sustained success the others have.
Kudos to you Amnesiac. On a page of crappy and biased polls, this is finally a legit poll that you could make an argument for any of the four guys.
I take Toews, just because I think he's the best leader of this group.
Idk, just because someone is a captain doesnt automatically make them a great leader. Chicago is just a very young team. I bet Toews wouldnt even get an A on half the teams. Toews being the face of the team probably had a lot to do with him being captain. Much like Crosby. Just my guess. I dont know the guy.
Parise and Getzlaf were very, very close. Went with Parise because of how ridiculously good he is this year. Toews still hasn't done **** in my books to even be on the same tier as the other guys. The other guys have just proven to be superior offensive talents IMO. He's still very young but I'd like to actually see Toews putting up some monster numbers before putting his career ahead of any of the other three.

I have heard nothing but praise from everyone around the kid about his leadership skills. This was not like the Pens giving it to Crosby, Toews was the best leader on the team. Simple as that.

Toews is 3 years younger than Getzlaf and 4 years younger than Parise and Staal. Take a look at the numbers those guys were putting up at the same age, and Staal is the only guy with better numbers at the same age. Getzlaf and Parise had less than 40 points when they were 20, whereas Toews is going to be a 30 goal scorer before he's able to drink in the US.
Like I said before, great poll. If you're going by what they've accomplished already then it's clearly Staal, but asking who will have the best career makes it totally subjective. At the same age, Toews is better than both Getzlaf and Parise, but only the long haul will tell.

The numbers don't tell the whole story about players. I know that Getzlaf was brought along slowly by the Ducks and didn't get to play big minutes in the first 2 seasons. His line was effectively the 3rd line (in terms of TOI) during their cup year.

The fact that anyone would even try to assert that Crosby's an incapable leader after he led the playoffs in scoring on the way to becoming the youngest captain to ever appear in the Finals is hilarious.
