I guess you'll hold out for Carter and a 1st.
lolololololoololol That pretty much sums up the Leaf as a whole in the last 5 or so years. Make a late playoff push, just miss out get an average 1st round pick and stay idle.

According to him he did when he dealt Bure to Florida, although Gagner was 34/35 at the time of the deal. As far as I remember, Burke never said anything about needing a "young roster player" in return, that's just been Leafs' fans speculation. He's already talked in the past about being willing to take on salary in a deal so I'm just saying I wouldn't be surprised if Burke did such a thing in a Kaberle deal and tried to spin it as a positive, he's done so in the past.

I don't think it is enough to blow Burke away. Colburne is probably at least two years away from playing in the NHL and their 1st will be like a 2nd. For this deal to happen I think the 3rd needs to be upgraded to a d prospect like Matt Lashoff.

A prospect and two picks?

I don't really care about losing that. The B's are better later in the draft anyways.

Don't bother.

The guy will trade a 1st overall for a 29th overall .. hey, first round.

No, it's Colborne, first round pick, and a third rounder.

I'd do it in a second. Picks and prospects are valued WAY too much on HFboards.

Tempting but not enough. The picks seem a bit more valuable than they are. IMO the 3rd should be changed to a 2nd or add a young player like Hunwick.

Burke said he wanted a 1st, check, top prospect, Colborne is that so check right now and the 3rd rounder is not what he wanted..........that has to be a player that can step in the lineup now......so the B's would have to offer a player instead of the 3rd.

I could see that happening though

I don't quite understand why it originally states "the Bruins have offered their 2008 first-round pick, forward Joe Colborne of Denver University, their 2009 No. 1 pick, and a third-round pick"

&

near the end of the article is says,"B's are to lose three draft picks and Colborne in the process"

I'd like to add that when Burke set his asking price, it was high and undoubtably set to be worked down. When the Bruins made their offer, it was set low and up to Burke to work it up. So the details of the deal are being worked out to whether or not Burke can get that roster player that can play now everyones been mentioning.

And a 3rd. Don't you forget it.

"According to the Boston Herald, the Bruins have offered their 2008 first-round pick, forward Joe Colborne of Denver University, their 2009 No. 1 pick, and a third-round pick to the Toronto Maple Leafs for defenseman Tomas Kaberle."

As per the link in the OP.

I'd suggest not commenting on things you have no idea about kiddo.

That offer is not close. I'm not going to take a shot at a kid who was termed a project in last years draft. But more along the lines of the early second round and forth round picks since this move should easy get Boston to at least the semis. This does not fall in line with the 1st, young player and good prospect that he has already stated is the cost.

Besides the Bruins need a Pronger not Kabs

I love how you take a back-seat approach to each one of these threads. You offer no valuable input, instead just comment on what other people have to say with the intention of insulting them.

This deal makes more sense to me. How bout you guys/gals!

To Boston: Tomas Kaberle

To Toronto: Chuck Kobasew, Matt Lashoff and a 2009 2nd round pick.

Agreed.

Around here, 17 year olds yet to be drafted and a prospect - none of whom have skated a single shift in the league - are assumed NHL assets...while meanwhile a proven, in-his-prime, productive NHL dman is fodder (and "getting older").

Hence the gap between HF perception and the reality of NHL deals, as we will undoubtedly see over the next 72 hours or so.

Colbourne, Hunwick, 1st round pick.
Sounds good to me, wouldn't be surprised to see Burke get more though.
