We need a center to replace Lang. Metropolit can't be it.

Lang wants to return next year (He said this in the Gazette)

We will have to wait to get him back. There is no use overpaying for a guy at this point.

The Habs are playoff underdogs anyway

The price may be too steep to make a major move. There are so many buyers these years driving up the market.

I think we are alright the way we are, with Tanguay coming back we have pretty decent forwards and our top 4 D is pretty good, since we got schneider.

Gainey himself said this is the trading season and that he was looking into and listening to offers...and how would a reporter know if Gainey was done or not???

If Gainey thinks this is the team to get him the Cup he is mistaken and I think people here are as well if they think this team can do it without some big changes.

anyone who thinks gainey has stopped working the phones is nuts ...gainey has never been one to tell the press his every step ...or any step for that matter. he may not be able to get a deal done ,,,,but he will be there till the deadline

Some people seem content with not progressing. To them, a first round exit is nothing to be frowned upon, and actually a good learning experience for the young guys.

Well realistically what do you expect?

It's not like the big name players on the market can be had for O'Byrne and a 3rd round pick. The Prongers, Jokinens and others would cost MULTIPLE young, roster players that you'd all whine about if they were traded.

Then again... perhaps he's just playing it safe by letting people think that nothing else will happen... that way if nothing happens, no one can complain, and if something happens, everyone is surprised... it's a win/win situation...

I think that we have a solid team and we have the posibility to go far in the playoffs with the tem we have. I don't think that an aquisition is necessecary but it might help though. That being said, I would be toatly satisfied with the team we have in the playoffs and that doesn't mean that I will be content with a first round exit. All I'm saying is that think that the team is better then his record shows and anything can happen in a playoff series.

Yeah...Gainey will cut the phone line and go to the beach on wednesday to make sure no one can reach him

If he gets an offer, he'll listen and consider it...

How can he say that? What if he got an incredible offer on March 4, will he just say: "Sorry, but I'm done?".

Told you so. Gainey rarely moves big before the deadline. He works in the summer, usually.

Guys, this is the team that will go into the playoffs. Or will it?

Don't have a link but myself and probably many more heard Gainey say this when Ron MacLean interviewed him prior to the HNIC game on Saturday night....

Gainey pretty much said he was done trading and that he likes the team he as now going into the playoff's.....
