Peca to be traded?

According to the team1040 play by play announcers Peca did not return in for third period in tonights game against Vancouver.

Did not appear to be injured.

Where could he go and what kind of value does he have?

Doesn't make a lot of sense for Columbus to trade him.....

I'm sure Edmonton would be interested though.

I thought his absence was confirmed to be an injury.

Edmonton's had him once and we could use him again, but I highly doubt the Jackets make such a move in the midst of a playoff race.

Mind you, Columbus and Edmonton did swing the Tarnstrom/Glencross deal in similar circumstances, so I wouldn't entirely rule it out.

And the GM's are rather close, I would assume.

GM's being an actual GM and one being a Hockey Operations President who is apparently still the GM.

If he's available I'd like SJ to have a look at him.

I would love to have Pisani and Peca on the same line again. They were gold in the 2006 playoffs together. They combined for 20 goals in 24 games. Not bad production from a third line.

Peca and MacT didn't see eye to eye for the majority of the time he was in Edmonton but MacT took responsibility for that saying that he mis-used him. Peca later said that he was one of the smartest coaches he ever played for. Neither had any reason to say the things they did to the media so I think there is a mutual respect now. I don't think Peca would be to upset about coming back to Edmonton for a couple months.

Come on Howsen....Lowe basically let you take Hejda with you to Columbus and he's been great.

Jackets TV broadcasters are saying it's simply an "undisclosed injury." No further details. He actually didn't return after the 1st period. No one on the Jackets board caught what could have caused the injury.

Considering his recent health record, my guess it that's he's injured. Makes no sense to trade him if you're Columbus.

Peca has been terrible for a long time now. I see no reason why we wouldn't consider trading him. He may have been able to turn it up a notch in the past but this year he has no such ability. I would love to see his ass sent packing.

Players get pulled before the game starts when a trade happens, not during a game. There's no reason for that.

I watched the Columbus feed on Center Ice Online, and they said he left the game with an "undisclosed injury, and will not return". And that was after the first period - not the 2nd.

I DVR the games and I still can't find anything on ice that suggests he was injured. Fishy to say the least, but I doubt it is anything. I had my hopes up probably for nothing.

Really? If I'm Gomez I'd love to play with Nash.

People on this board always think somebody is traded when they leave the game...I don't think a player is ever told they are traded in the middle of a game

Peca would be a valuable addition to any team looking to make a run in the playoffs. Even in his oft injured time in Toronto, you could just tell the difference he made by being in the line-up.

Read DougRiffles post. He is absolutely right. Peca has contributed very little for the entire season. He has been good at faceoffs at times, and we keep waiting for him to take it up a notch, but it seems that he just doesn't have it.

As far as Peca having issues with MacT...he is the same with Hitch. Peca is a veteran who thinks he has it all figured out. Not that he is an a-hole or anything, but Peca decides when he is going to play and doesn't push the pace in any game anymore.

Someone mentioned Peca for Wellwood in another thread. I made that trade in a NY minute. Maybe Wellwood is a dog, but at least he has a chance to make a play.

Peca is a smart player who is relying on playing on his smarts and reputation. The game is just too fast for him anymore.
