Hunter goes with his gut and loses.

Guelph 4
@London 2
-MacDonald got the start, let in 4 of 22 shots before being pulled in the late second.
-Coleman comes in and stops 11 of 11.
-First loss of playoffs for London (8-1)
-Guelph leads series 1-0

The Knights actually started Coleman!

London 3 - Guelph 2 (OT)
- Coleman made 41 saves on 43 shots. Apparently London was outplayed badly... their overtime winner was very flukey. Brandon Prust went hard to the net, and as the Guelph defenseman dumped him into the goalie, a pass came in and hit Prust in the leg and went in.

Game three is tonight in London.

Thanks, Douggy. I just got off the Free Press site reading the game story. Was Klein's goal with seconds left in regulation to tie it a good one? or was it a softie?

Hopefully Hunter sticks with Coleman now (at least from our perspective).

London 3
@Guelph 2 (OT)
-Coleman W, 41/43, 1st Star
-Series tied 1-1

Quote:
The Knights were outshot 8-4 in OT and 43-23 on the night. Knights goalie Gerald Coleman was first star.

"I knew it was going to be tough in overtime after they'd scored with under a minute to go," he said. "They'd have the momentum and there'd be lots of shots.

"But I thought I could pretty much kill their momentum with a couple of saves and give our team one chance to score and they did.

"That's all I wanted."

Coleman replaced Ryan MacDonald late in the second period of Game 1, won 4-2 by Guelph and ending the Knights' 14-game winning streak.

Coleman hadn't played since Game 1 of the conference semifinal against Erie.

"I knew I'd get a chance but it was a tough way to get in," he said. "You hate to see Ryan in that situation, but I knew I had to come in and get a win."

The Storm beat the Knights 4-3 tonight. http://www.ontariohockeyleague.com/s...?game_id=10719

I didn't see the game, but it looks like the Knights went with Coleman, and had a two goal lead going to the third period. :angryfire: Coleman made 20 saves on 24 shots before being yanked with 11 minutes left. MacDonald came in and made 3 saves.

I wish they would just go with one guy and quit screwing us around.

-Coleman L, 20/24
-As Douggy mentioned, Coleman pulled in mid-third. Hunter called the move an attempt to switch momentum. LDN had 3-1 lead entering the period, which was 4-3 by the mid-point. Paper said Guelph turned it up another gear and LDN couldn't get anything going.
-Guelph leads series 2-1

Red Deer 1
@Medicine Hat 0
-Reid -1, 2 PIM
-Cam Ward (Carolina) stopped 42/42 for the SO. RD outshot 42-18.

Article about Coleman:

*****************
Goalie goes right back in
Gerald Coleman stayed confident through the Guelph rally Friday, says London Knights goalie coach Dave Rook.
By JIM CRESSMAN -- London Free Press

Gerald Coleman is headed right back to where he does the most good for the London Knights -- in the crease for Game 4 of the OHL Western Conference final tonight in Guelph against the Storm.

The Storm lead the best-of-seven series 2-1 after the Knights blew a 3-1 lead going into the third period Friday at the John Labatt Centre and lost 4-3.

Tuesday:

@Red Deer 3
Medicine Hat 1
-Reid ns, -1, 12 PIM (Roughing + 10 min. mis.)
-Reid had to be "wrestled" to the box by linesmen after his roughing call. He apparently took a swipe at the linesman's hands to get him to let go of him.
-RD and coach Brent Sutter leads series 2-1.

I wasn't looking for the thank you's, though they are appreciated - just wondered if it was worth my time.

So, I'll keep going... though I don't have a ton of good news:

Gatineau 3
@Chicoutimi 2 (OT)
-O'Brien ns, +1, 2 SOG
-Gatineau wins series 4-2

Moncton 2
@Rimouski 1
-Hrdel ns, -1
-Moncton wins series 4-1, plays Gatineau in Q Finals
-Corey Crawford leading the race for the Q's version of the Conn Smythe.

Hrdel: Made a lot of progress this year with his defensive game and consistency, and was able to put some points up on the board, especially in the playoffs. Next year he'll likely remain on a line with Crosby, so the opportunity is his to win Feaster over for a contract, because I don't think he's a favorite for one right now.

Hrdel Regular Season: 54 GP, 15-31-46, 41 PIM, +19
Hrdel Playoffs: 9 GP, 4-6-10, 4 PIM, +3

Guelph 6
@London 3
-Coleman DNP (MacDonald L, 35/40)
-Guelph wins series 4-3 after LDN fought back from 3-1 down.
-LDN's record-breaking season and #1 CHL ranking comes to an end. LDN lost 3 times on home ice ALL SEASON, and lost 3 to Guelph in London this series. Game 7 was tied 3-3 mid-way through the 3rd. 6th goal an ENer for Martin St. Pierre. The suspended Knight Danny Bois could have really helped London. He was suspended before the Guelph series for 8 games for elbowing an Erie player in the head. This was his 4th suspension of the year.

Coleman: I think Coleman did very well for himself this year and though still raw, showed good signs of rounding out his game. He certainly played better than a late-round pick and with his size and competitiveness, is almost a lock for a pro contract when his time comes. Boutin does remain above him on the organizational chart, but Coleman is in the organization's plans, I would think. I think his game still is in the John Grahame mold, which is good for him. Next year will be difficult for him, IMO. Will London stick with a tandem of GT, or will they trade Coleman and stay with their "favorite," the younger Ryan MacDonald, who won the PO #1 by the end of the Guelph series and had better PO numbers than Coleman? Personally, I think it would be best for Coleman to hold down the #1 somewhere, and I think he's fighting an uphill battle for that in London. They are definitely smitten with the small and flashy MacDonald. Playing for such a strong team helps, but a #1 somewhere may be better for him.

Coleman Regular Season: 24-8-0, 2.20 gaa, .931 sv%, 5 SO
(Led league in SO, sv%, was 2nd in gaa, and 8th in wins)
Coleman Playoffs: 5-2, 2.58 gaa, .912 sv%, 1 SO

WHL Note: Everett beat Kelowna last night, forcing a Game 7. Medicine Hat awaits the winner.
