I didn't really see Reitz lasting much longer under Tortarella anyway to be quite honest.

Sauer is the next in line. Potter won't get a chance here. It's probably fair for the organization to trade him to a team where he will get a chance to play in the NHL.

Why? Where did you hear this or is it your opinion? The kid is a very good prospect and is solid . You can never have enough nhl ready defense men ready for call up. He was injured vs Toronto and was in a walking cast for a few days.

huh? what info do you have to support that?

actually, this organization is stocked with good young dmen. potter has done nothing but impress me everytime ive seen him play. hes not flashy but hes no slouch either. when you consider how girardi kinda came out of nowhere, i think its a bit of a stretch to say corey potter wont ever play for this organization.

come the trade deadline, we may have a few less dmen prospects anyway so to say hell never play is at best, a guess.

Chill out dupontti...er, trademaster. He's only in his second full AHL season, he will have plenty of opportunity to establish himself. I mean, Renney was standing in his way, right? And now he's gone.

Steve Zipay said it happened in Florida. He kept playing the rest of the game with it fractured. He will probably go on IR as well.

Well, Squishy has been saying Sauer has been very good lately and would most likely be ready for a small stint up with the big club. Also, Considering the following players have much higher ceilings than Potter(Sanguinetti, Del Zotto, Sauer) I would imagine that the organization would want to give them a legit shot at making the jump before Potter. Also considering the Rangers already have 4 players who will be here for a while(Staal, Girardi, Redden, Rozsival) along with the fact that Mara has been playing great and likes NY(so he will most likely be back) that leaves one spot. I cant see Potter getting much of a shot.

Ah, ha! I should have figured that out sooner. Thanks nyr2k2.

(That said, the bit about Sauer being first call up isn't complete BS. Sauer's playing better than Potter in Hartford right now and does have a brighter future in the organization.)

I too think Torts will use a short bench. However if someone else gets injured....and Mara coming back so soon could be risky

Back in January, just about the time trademaster blessed us with his presence.

Anyway, Sauer deserves the call, I agree. Assuming you base your promotions based solely on merit and not service time or something else that should be less than relevant.

Honestly I don't think Reitz has much of a future in the NHL. His skating, puck movement and hockey sense are not up to speed. As well Kalinin has been playing pretty well (outside the period he was injured) for at least a couple months. Maybe Mara has settled him down some but while most players minuses got much worse over that period he's managed to whittle his down quite a bit.

Agree with you on the assessment of the Reitz, he's really physical which is great but other than that... ehhh. I have a feeling the Rangers won't qualify him this summer considering how many RFAs they have. I would assume that the Rangers would let him go as well as Kalinin, and probably make an effort to retain Mara.
