Chicago isn't pursuing Antropov, and Connolly is three times the player Antropov is anyways, not a "consolation prize".

I'd do the above deal in a heartbeat but I would also be interested in some conditional draft picks moving around according to whether or not Connolly resigns or stays healthy.

I do really like Connolly but I think he might be "too good" for the spots we need to fill.. If we are adding a forward at the deadline a 3rd line centre could maybe be added or another top line right winger that would give AV a lot of options. That's why I like Kotalik. He might fit well with the sedins which puts Burr back on the checking line where he can still score but isn't relied uppon as much. Or Burr can stay up Kotalik can play 3rd line and add some scoring then play the PP with the Twins since Wellwood has looked like he's lost his touch lately.

if burrows dosent resign by the deadline, is there any chance that we could do a trade like this:

To vancouver: Connoly +

To Buffalo: Burrows

??

Highly unlikely that Darcy brings in a UFA. He wants someone signed through at least next season that can help now and later.

From a Canucks point of view, no. Burrows is the heart and soul of this team. We are not that desperate for another centre. The only way to get Burrows would be something that is so ridiculous and would never happen. You do have a shot at him when he's a UFA though if we dont' sign him and i think every team in the NHL would want him. I really hope Van locks him up.

Same here. Definite upgrade over Wellwood and gives the Canucks' three scoring lines that are all defensively responsible. I doubt Gillis wants to move him, but something based around Shane O'Brien? Or Mason Raymond?

Spacek played great here, wouldn't mind bringing him back!

To Buff:

3rd (Philadelphia's, acquired from Pitkanen trade)
Random Signed Prospect

I say random signed prospect because the Oilers are right against the contract cap, to bring anyone in, we would need to ship a contract out.

You can choose from any of the following:

Potulny (LW/C)
Schremp (LW/C)
Jacques (LW)
Marc-Antoine Pouliot (LW/C/RW)
Ryan Stone (LW/C/RW)
Zach Stortini (RW)

I'd like Kotalik and Spacek.

But if your not interested in prospects/picks... than I donno.

You're not going to get roster players back for these kinds of UFA's.

Spacek has more value then that. At least a 2nd and a prospect. Probably a 1st.

He got a mid-level prospect the first time he was traded....

How does he get more when he's older and producing less points?

Just an FYI on Spacek....

He has been our best defensive player this year, hands down. He should get a decent return if we do move him.

Wouldn't mind Kotalik with the Penguins. I would be willing to take chance with Afinogenov on the Pens as well, but as another poster said it is highly unlikely the Sabres make any deals with the Pens.

Does he have more value then Schneider who went for a 2nd, I think so.

Look at the Havelid trade...

Montreal clearly overpaid for Schneider, and IMO New Jersey fleeced Atlanta for Havelid. I think Spacek's value is somewhere in the middle, thus suggesting a 3rd + mid-level Prospect.

We will be wanting a player rather than a pick and a prospect.

mmm you'd prolly have to take a forward...

unless Steve Staios & Strudwick are cherished by you.

I'm fine with a forward. 3rd line center who can win faceoffs would be nice.

Sure, if we had one. I don't think the club is too high on giving up Brodziak for a rental.

I know this is so attractive, but how about a guy like:

-Ryan Potulny (played well up here, wins faceoffs)
-Marc-Antoine Pouliot

Not necessarily. Buyers trade with sellers and vise versa obv. so if we are "selling" connolly to a buyer that team would be reluctant to give up a roster player since they are buying. We could easily take picks prospects and then fill connollys shoes buy acting as the buyer with another seller.

i.e. Connoly for 2nd rounder + prospect.

then

Pick/prospect for.... (fill in a roster player here signed through 2010)

I think Buffaloi is looking for a Center with offensive ability,a Defensemen that can play now, and a winger with size who can play (hockey)

Regier has said they aren't looking for any UFA's. ( I think they want to stay away from RFA's as well.)

So players signed for at least 1 more year. They also look like they're budget will be squeezed next year so they are looking for bargains.

Back to the Columbus Rumor Klesla fits, what I think they want. (If they believe he's healthy and he can play now)

IMO Spacek is easily the best of the three.
