Tim Thomas will be exposed aswell I wouldnt be surprised if the Bruins bowed out in the 1st round, often teams that overachive struggle against the late seeds in the playoffs.

Yes, my impartiality is going the way of the Dodo... you know as well as I that many of your less then exemplary posting community are obnoxious as hell, and HFboarder should be a poster boy for them. Quite frankly if they want to start whining about the Bruins every day and making up BS polls, why should we pull any punches when discussing their team, as long as we aren't delving into the realm of fiction.

There's an 18 point gap between Boston and Montreal, 10 between the Habs and the other two. 6 between them and Buffalo. Right now, they're closer to not making the playoffs then they are to overtaking one of the top 3.

You see any Bruins fans creating polls asking if the Habs will even make the playoffs? Hell, one only need to look at the way the answers are worded to realize the OP's intent. You have issue with me calling him on it? You're a Bruins fan and you choose "Yes", the answer says you think the other teams in the East aren't very good. You choose "no" and you're saying your team will choke?

As for my comment, the Habs quite simply haven't been on par with the three teams mentioned. Truth. Sure they may find success in the playoffs, anyone can, but that has no bearing when I say they don't belong in this particular conversation. Sure I may have been overly harsh, but what can you do?

Only by Canadian fans.

Boston has made up for their early inability to beat the Habs. Recent history has been far more even.

1987-88 Adams Division Final Boston 4-1
1988-89 Adams Division Final Montreal 4-1
1989-90 Adams Division Final Boston 4-1
1990-91 Adams Division Final Boston 4-3
1991-92 Adams Division Final Boston 4-0
1993-94 Eastern Quarterfinal Boston 4-3
2001-02 Eastern Quarterfinal Montreal 4-2
2003-04 Eastern Quarterfinal Montreal 4-3
2007-08 Eastern Quarterfinal Montreal 4-3
You like to take out the way past too eh? Montreal won 24 of 31 series and have upset Boston the last 2 times Boston won the NE.

And your point being? This isn't 1986 anymore cat... this isn't even 2008.

Montreal definitely isn't the same team, and neither are the Bruins. Do you agree? You folks need to let go of the past.

And the 1990 playoffs do?

Montreal are Bruins killers until Boston proves otherwise.

Much like the Leafs and the Sens.

We'll find out if continues.

Hopefully Boston will have a chance to get that monkey off their back. I'd certainly enjoy seeing it.

As it is, I think NJ is the team out of the East barring any significant injuries.

They don't have the same kind of pressure in their market, they have an organizational history of winning and a goalie who is well-rested and has won it 3 times before.

However Bruins fans keep telling us to forget the past, but then the past turns to another upset and it becomes the ''past'' instantly. Habs had a very bad team in 2002 and still beat then top seed Bruins. Habs had an average team in 2004 with the Sundstrom, Bulis, Dagenais, Quintal and still beat the 2nd seeded Bruins. If you think the Bruins are guaranteed to beat the Habs in the playoffs, you might be shocked and surprised yet again. BTW, the season series doesn't mean squat, proof is last year, we won 8 vs Boston and still had to go to 7 games. Boston won 4 of 6 in 2004 but still lost in the playoffs. I know a lot of Bruins fans, including my cousin, who would hate to play Montreal early in the playoffs because he knows anything can happen when the Bruins play the Habs, even if the Bruins are 20-25 pts ahead.

I guess this also means that Montreal can't beat anyone but the Bruins.

This thread is like shooting fish in a barrel. If the thread would have been "Is New Jersey going to win the East?" The poll results would have been the same. Actually, there seems to be a lot of Devils fans voicing their opinion on this thread so maybe they would have voted for themselves a few more times.

I should start a "Is Washington going to win the East?" thread just to prove my point.

The correct answer is.....there are 5-6 teams in the East that have chance to go all the way. Parity reigns.

That has been true in this decade, I can't deny that.

The Bruins need to pick up a solid vetran D-man and another vetran LW to have a chance of beating NJ. NJ right now is just to good and defensively sound. They can shut down any team in the NE. I think the Bruins can take Washington in the playoffs even if they don't add any players. All the games the Bruins and Caps have played have been 1 goal games and games when the Bruins were in an offensive slump and not playing their best. Would be an interesting series and a good one but I think Boston can take the Caps in the playoffs (considering both team don't make any trades). Right now I have NJ and Detroit in the Stanley cup finals.

Recently, that's true. That is the reason why I do not want to see the Bruins. If we manage to beat them, somehow we always lose the next series. If the Habs go to the second round, I really hope some other team take out the Bruins in the first round.

I think it's because the Bruins / Habs series are so physical and so emotional.
