3 Way Deal Rumor

Bucky Gleason from the Buffalo News (rumor) mentioned on Schopp and the Bulldog....

To PHX: Henrik Tallinder

To PHI: Derek Morris

To BUF: Marty Biron

I'd be cool with this deal. Marty is great for the lockeroom and despite struggles lately, he might be awesome. I would also assume Darcy would find a replacement for Hank.

Not a fan... I think our trading pieces are weakened with Biron as opposed to Tallinder.

Ughhh , they don't need goaltending (as cool as it would be to have Marty back ), especially at the expense of Tallinder (who IMO is better than Derek Morris). They need to add scoring upfront and actually put pucks in the net for Lalime.

It's been discussed in the deadline thread, and Tallinder is worth way more than that.

I think thats a bare bones look at it.

From what I have heard and read (if Buffalo is involved) the below is a very rough outline of Buffalo's possible bottom line in this.

They get a 2nd rounder, Biron and the Yotes take Max off our hands for Tallinder

But thats as of the rumor mill now. Obviously it could change or not happen at all.

WHY? Tallinder is so inconsistent and can't stay healthy. If Darcy replaces Hank with another Dman who is more physical....this is a solid deal. The players still surely love Marty and their mental state would get better. Lalime played well for a few games now....but are we sure that he could for another 10 games or so.

Did you see our defense when Tallinder was out? Or our PK?

He is the single most undervalued player on this team.

Sorry...not convinced in the least. I used to love him but his play has dropped off...even Ruff has stated so.

Yeah, I just read that in the Deadline thread... my thought is that if we're going to look for that second line center or the stud defenseman, Tallinder is going to raise a lot more potential eyebrows than Biron will in a package. I like offloading Max for the pick, but not at the expense of Tallinder.

What if Reinprecht was added coming our way? Would you bite?

I'd consider it, but I don't know if I would (especially with Gerber available for free for that backup goaltender position).

WHY?!? this doesn't make sense. Marty is UFA Tallinder is not. Lalime has been fine. I think it's a BS rumor started by Bucky pining for the old days crap.

As I wrote in the other thread, our D got markedly better with Tallinder in the lineup. Of course this also coincided with Teppo being benched, but if Tallinder got traded that would put old man Teppo right back in the lineup. In no way worth it for a 2 month rental of Marty, even if we got a 2nd.

I could live with this deal if its a prelude to something else. It would free up whats left of Tallinder's deal (2.9mil prorated) and 3.25mil next year. It would also give Regier a pick (2nd rounder) to help make another deal happen.

For me to live with it it would have to be a prelude to something else. On the face of it, the deal looks like a way to cut costs and pander to the fans at the same time, knowing how popular Biron is. Don't like it at all. It makes the team worse.

This needs to be kept in mind before anyone jumps to conclusions. I highly doubt Gleason would have the exact deal, just the principal pieces. I'm keeping an open mind on this.

Use the 2nd and a prospect like TJ Brennan to get a solid Dman. Problem solved.

I am with you on this one josh, it needs to be a 'piece of the puzzle' not the only deal

something like that. But then you need a 3rd deal to be completed so the team lands a 2nd line center.

I thought it was a 3 PM deadline? Or are you accounting for the hour that it takes for last second deals?

If it happens (thats a big if) it frees up money (almost 3mil) and gives Regier a 2nd round pick. He could get a nice dman with Connolly and a 2nd.

and if Connolly is moved out thats another 3.5 on top of Tallinder's 2.9mil. Thats 6.4mil in prorated salary freed up. It certainly expands the options as to who they could target. Pronger (6.25mil) anyone

I wouldn't mind having Marty back so long as it's not the only thing they do. I just really, really, really want them to make a move to get a forward who can make a difference in here. And if not that, if they're sellers, some really, really good young prospects.

I don't want draft picks.
