You can really see it in his game. He's got great puck control.

I love how Hansen and Rypien (if he can get healthy) seem to be slowly following in Kesler and Burrows footsteps though. Our team identity/style could be wicked in a couple years.

Manitoba is doing a great job of filling players with the desire to win down there.

I still can't figure out why Zinger hasn't been made a GM in the NHL yet. The guy runs that organization better than most NHL teams and is amazing at finding talent from the most unlikely places.

Was Burrows ever even mentioned in trade talks anywhere? I wasn't even aware he was in a contract year.

Either way, fine job by Gillis to get him locked up at a more than reasonable rate. As a Flames fan who sees this guy far more than I'd like to, $2 million is beyond reasonable for what he provides. While he plays a 3rd line game, he can elevate his play to be a scorer for periods of time and he plays hard consistently. In my opinion, he and Kesler are the Canuck's 2 best players consistently.

There were rumors on CBC and the radio etc. Not much talk around here since he is a fan favourite, so no Canucks fan will involve him in rumors.

I think we've got to thank Mike Keane for a lot of the great development there.

He took both Hansen and Grabner under his wing and (at least in Hansen's play) it seems to be rubbing off.

Well said man, Burrows and kesler have been our heart this year, Watching these guys play game in and game out is a treat. Its im sure like watching Iginla play on a nightly basis (even tho Iggy is on a whole different league) but you get my point.

It's virtually impossible to conceive a scenario beyond the absurd where it made any sense to move Burrows. Lebrun needs to check his sources, he was getting punkd.

Good for Burrows not going for some monstrous contract. He knows it'll help his team and i think it's great that he signed for so little. Even if it means he's not going to the Kings or Leafs like ever.

As Burrows would say, he's a Frenchman and they don't know anything.

I like how the anti-nonis club in Vancouver skip over the fact that Nonis signed this guy and no one knew who he was

Not really. Nonis didn't even know this guy existed (and to be fair to Nonis - not many did). It was the Moose GM (Canucks AHL affiliate) that discovered Burrows. Canucks domestic scouting have in the past stunk. Last undrafted free agent they "found" was Steve Kariya.

The credit goes to Craig Heisenger for giving him a chance in Manitoba.

He was signed and developed by the Manitoba Moose and eventually recieved a contract based on the merits of his play in the AHL. Nonis hardly deserves credit for that, Craig Heissinger is the one to thank there.

Nonis' ability as an evaluator of talent can be summed up in two words: Tommi Santala.

You mean he wasn't an elite fourth liner player?

He was the *ONE* player that proved that you couldn't stick anybody with the Sedins and score goals. I once thought that when Wade Brookbank scored a couple goals riding shotgun with them in a few games a number of years ago.

I do remember people freaking out about how dumb Nonis was to give him a 3-year, one way deal at 480,000.

It's very possible someone in the Canucks front office leaked something in order to put the pressure on him.

Kind of reminds me of the Sedins salary demand leaks just a short while ago. Whatever is going on, Gillis seems to know what he's doing. You've gotta imagine it'll backfire at some point though if he's indeed using the media to pressure his players.
