You just pretty much ruined that deal. Anything with an "e" followed by a number from 1-5 breaks any deal, no matter what the situation. I think Eklund had Bill Guerin as an e4 or an e5 to Detroit back in 06-07, and wouldn't you know it, he went to San Jose instead.

Awesome, I love generalizations.

Pronger can probably still be had. Same with Kaberle. Just, there's no real reason to trade either right now, and they can still get a lot for them next year if they're going to miss the playoffs.

if the ducks can add a good forward to play with Getzlaf and Perry I don't think anyone will want them in the first round, especially the Flames

This will put the Bouwmeester offers through the roof, and I still think Pronger is available.

Is this the same sources that had Boston and Anaheim 'agreeing in principle' on a deal?

Can you name the last team to win the cup after making a major acquisition at the deadline?

Of course they say he is not going to be traded, when do they ever say he is on the market?

The Carolina Hurricanes in 2005/06 with Doug Weight and Mark Recchi, two elite players.

Funny thing is, they acquired those guys for basically nothing...

Quote:
St. Louis Blues traded Doug Weight and the rights to Erkki Rajamaki to the Carolina Hurricanes for Jesse Boulerice, Mike Zigomanis, the rights to Magnus Kahnberg, a 1 st and a 4th round selections in 2006 and a 4th round selection in 2007
Quote:
Pittsburgh Penguins traded Mark Recchi to the Carolina Hurricanes for Niklas Nordgren, Krystofer Kolanos and a 2nd round selection in 2007
The picks ended up becoming as follows:

Doug Weight

1st Round 2006 - Matt Corrente (New Jersey, traded from St. Louis)
4th Round 2006 - Ryan Turek
4th Round 2007 - Travis Erstad

Mark Recchi

2nd Round 2007 - Keven Veilleux

Really, the picks/prospects are the only losses; the players going back in these trades were hardly anything for Rutherford to cry in his beer over. For Weight, Kahnberg and Rajamaki have yet to play an NHL game, and probably never will. Boulerice and Zigomanis both lasted only lasted one season in St. Louis.

For Recchi, Nordgren and Kolanos were both failed prospects; Kolanos going back quite a few years because of concussions and other injuries. I remember him from his short stint in Detroit one year later, and he was basically exiled from the team because of his poor attitude. He is playing in Minnesota now, but I highly doubt he ever becomes a full-time NHL player. Nordgren, on the other hand, just wasn't very good.

It's really funny how they got these two guys for so little. The players that went in return had virtually no impacts for their teams (Zigomanis would be the only one to really develop into something decent, but that wasn't in St. Louis). Depending on whether or not these prospects develop (Corrente especially) will determine the future winner of the trade, but right now, it's definitly Carolina.

He was at the All-Star Game. He was the All-Star game MVP. He's an All-Star.

Common sense>Nikita Filatov.

Anyway, Pronger off the market? Was he ever TRULY on the market to begin with? It was nothing but unsubstantiated rumors to begin with.

Maybe he's off the market now, cause they have a deal done. (Just for the guy who wanted one of these)
OH NO. That this mean we've be flooded with the good prospect, a 1st that's pretty much a 2nd rounder and a crap player for bouwmeester for the rest of the day from the Boston crew.
