It would be hilarious if all that Burke managed today was the Gerber thing. And that he decided to just resign More and antro because if he got rid of them he would just have to replace them this summer. And that they are happy in TO of course
Hahah. I think the forum reacted to the suggestion of reaching 1000 posts before the leafs made any deals.
As for the trades. Just about what was expected with Moore, and Antropov. The Kolzig salary dump deal was interesting. A bit disappointed to see we've kept Poni, but it's okay. The off-season will be interesting.
Burkie did exactly what he said he was going to do. Told everyone not to expect the firesale that they were all hoping for, so I don't see a reason for people to be upset (haven't seen anyone here, but a few of my friends are flipping out because of what little moves we made today).
The man doesn't just spew BS in these interviews he gives. I can't wait to see how people react when he doesn't trade Kaberle/Kubina.
He also didn't take on any additional contracts that carry into next season, so he should have about $17 million (all figures U.S.) to spend this summer even though he already has 16 players under contract. That should allow for some quick rebuilding either through free agency or the ability to trade for contracts.
"We're positioned well from a cap standpoint. I think you folks know I'm not big on doing nothing. We intend to be aggressive this summer on a lot of different fronts," Burke said.
