Good stuff...NYR lost. Now all this will be useless if we don't win.

One could say Boston did everything they could to win because they are scared to face us in the 1st round

Yeah, I'd like to think that but there is no way they are scared. Although if they could pick I doubt they'd pick the Habs over NYR or Florida.

Wow.. in a perfect world we could be icing either

Getzlaf - Lucic
Parise - Lucic
Carter - Lucic

or

Richards - Lucic
If I remember correctly at the time, the scouting reports were that Akost should go in the top 5, but due to his disorder, no one wanted to take a chance on him except us. Turns out he battles through that. Akost was and will be the player we want him to be. If we got Parise, why then do people scoff at Martin SL due to him being a small fast forward with skills. Getzlaf and Carter only started to draw some massive buzz after the draft as they had great junior careers at the end. It will be the biggest failure if we get rid of Andrei. He jsut needs time and the right setting to get back to his sniping ways. Think about it. That's what we needed at the time. Someone who could snipe. BTW, he does throw the body. In the long run, 46 is going to be huge for us.

As for Lucic, I too hate him but do give him credit. He is a good hockey player, but like Boston this year, way too cocky. Hockey karma will get him. Remember Phaneuf when he came into the leauge? Big hitter, young, gonna be one of the top shut down Ds? Yeah, he still hits now, but he's kind of leveled off. I have really on opinion on Maxwell (havn't seen him play enough). What are his upsides supposed to be? Lucic, well it was obvious that he is so huge and that he'd be a Power FWD. Maxwell battles hard for sure, but so do most call-ups.

Weird watching this game "cheering" for the Bruins. They really have impressed me this year and aside from two or three of their guys, unbiasedly, I think they are a respectable team who have achieved what we did last season. Dunno about that "in keeping with tradition, the Bruins are the hardest working team in the league" comment that Edwards made. It's funny when it shows "first E conference title since 2002", when in 2004 they came 2nd. They were very good in the regular season for quite some time, yet they still hold this whole "we are the underdogs" mentality against us, like they are rocky or something and beating us is like david beating goliath. Dunno how it will shape up first round, looking more unlikely that we will play them, although i'm not counting ANY chickens..ahem Lucichickens.

Now time for us to bury those god damn pests and shove it up Wilson's derriere.

I just realize that the Sabres now have more chance to get in the playoff than the Rags and Cats. They win out and they are sure-in. Things can change so fast now.

Carolina plays the Penguins tonight.

If the Pens win, we will be one point behind Carolina with one game in hand.

If the Canes win, we will get tied with the Pens for 6th with equal number of games played.

You are assuming the Habs will win, you know like we all do, standings don't matter when it's the Leafs.

Thats why ive been saying : i think weve alrdy done what we needed to do (and gotta continue doing), because i dont think the habs should be considered for the 8th spot anymore, the 8th spot is up for grabs between rangers, panthers and sabres, especialy with the last 2 habs wins and the last 2 ranger losses

the worst the habs can do i think, is 8th spot, and im glad

If Habs win tonight, Flyers lose and Pens/Canes doesn't go in OT, we can start thinking about 4th place!

Hmmm I'm not sure what I would prefer. I think being tied with the pens.

If the Rangers win out they get in over the Sabres. Sabres also have a tough schedule. I see no way that the Sabres could win out, and even if they did that still wouldn't guarentee them a spot because if NYR win out the Sabres are done. They do not control their own destiny.

Wrong, Sabres control their own destiny. They would have 95 points if they win their last 5 games. If NYR and FLA win their remaining games, they will also end up with 95 points, but the Sabres would beat both of them in the tie-breaker. More wins than Florida, same amount of wins than the Rags but beat them in their matchup.

Buffalo has the tiebreaker on the Rangers.

for some reason I didn't add up the Sabres win totals properly and only added it to 42. Either way, the Sabres having control over their own destiny does not mean they have a better chance of making the playoffs. They have a tough schedule and aren't exactly playing well right now. Winning 3 out of 5 is probably the best they can hope for and that would not be enough to put them in the playoffs. They play the Devils, Wings, leafs, Hurricanes and Bruins in their final 5. If they win 3 that would be an incredible finish for them, however I think 1 or 2 is more realistic for them.
