Why do they need another D man in Reitz?? I thought we'd get a waiver forward to fill in for antro or moore...

That's the thinking toward him coming him, Gerber. They're shutting down Toskala.

You don't want Pogge to sit on the bench in the NHL. You want him up and playing not up and sitting on the bench for half of the games. You also don't want to throw your future goalie into what could be a really bad 20 game period.

Nice pick up in Reitz, he throws the body around real well and isn't bad when he drops the gloves.

Weird move. But anything that helps the tank is good with me, I guess.

2 - D
Erik Reitz
Date of birth: July 29, 1982
Place of birth: Detroit, MI, USA
Ht: 6-1 Wt: 210
Shoots: R
Salary: $500,000
NHL Seasons: 2
Drafted by Minnesota in 2000 (6/170).

ASSETS: Has good size for the defense position. Likes to play a physical game. Is at his best when he plays a stay-at-home style.

FLAWS: Lacks mobility and coordination. Must adapt to the speed of the game at the highest level in order to finally make his mark in the NHL.

CAREER POTENTIAL: No. 6 or 7 defenseman.

The Woz version 2? Burke better blow the doors off with his second move. If this move was made to help the tank, the other moves today better be made to help our future.

Sounds like a good shut down guy for the Marlies.

Damn you Leafs. Burke is diabolical!!!

The Leafs will be challenging for the lottery for sure now with Gerber in nets. A caveat though, Gerber does go on hot streaks when nothing is on the line, and this is his last shot for NHL redemption. Just so glad he is out of the Sens system.

As the guys said on tsn, good locker room guy, and maybe he can show he can actually be a good backup goaltender at the NHL level.

Quite possibly... maybe just some more depth for the marlies? Even if we dealt someone, we do have lots of depth on the leafs to cover it.
