Haha yeah I did the same when I saw the Chinadoll Leclaire trade. First thought was the goalie graveyard continues in Ottawa, Another 2nd tier starter. But this one will allow elliot to start 30-40 games.

Allows Toskala to get surgery, only costs us cap space of which we have a lot of. If he stinks, we get a better draft pick. If he plays well, we can get something for him later.

In all fairness though, if Morrison is healthy, and his agent says he is, it could be a very good pick up. Morrison still has enough left in the tank to make an impact.
its nice hearing this optimism come from a different fanbase and no longer Anaheim's. good luck to him, but dont expect anything.

I agree that this could go horribly wrong. After watching him spend most of his last year in Vancouver mostly in the press box, I know how big of a flop he can be. In the same sense if you get him for nothing, could be worth the chance.

Btw does Morrison still have a year on his deal, or is you UFA in July?

Because Gerber is a better starter than Joseph.

Why are Senator fans laughing at this? The Leafs just downgraded their goaltending situation, and there's a good chance they could end up with a better pick than the Senators.

If I were a Senator fan, I'd be more disappointed than anything.

Morrison is a UFA in July
We gave up zero assets to acquire him
The Stars have plenty of cap space this season
This addition is for depth, they aren't pinning hopes on the guy

How could it go horribly wrong? How does it make the Stars' situation any worse?

If Morrison flops as you say, then the worst outcome is that we miss the playoffs. Well, how is that any worse than what the Stars were facing a couple of hours ago?

I wouldn't be shocked if he's still traded to a team that strikes out in all other ventures.

That's what I thought as far as contract length was concerned, but I wasn't positive.

No I do agree with you that overall it is a good pick up for Dallas. I do believe if Mo is healthy like his agent says then he can definitely have a positive impact on your roster. The comment about it going horribly wrong was me agreeing with a previous poster that it could go wrong. Do I think it will? No. But is there a chance? yes. Overall it's a good pick up and even if he doesn't perform up to the already low expectations, it's not like the stars really lose out.

One of the classiest players we've had in a Leafs jersey? I don't care how he's played recently, it'll be very weird.
