Is the conditional pick guaranteed? Like, the leafs get a pick no matter what, or they only get the second pick if certain conditions are met?
As far as what TSN said a while back, the pick is contingent on the Rangers making the playoffs.

If they don't, the Leafs get a 4th. If they do, the Leafs get a 3rd.

good deal for the rags. only two 1st got traded this year, one for campoli and another for jokinen. just shows you how deep this draft is gonna be.

Well well well, Antropov didn't fetch a first.

Arguably the most overvalued guy on the HF Boards finally was traded for his appropriate value a late 2nd.

Can't say I am not surprised.

Seriously after reading so many stupid TO posts about how great this guy is and how at a minimum is going to fetch a first it is satisfying.

He's a decent player hope he helps NY.

Really get a clue. Look into the team the leafs had back then. Antro was a fourth liner back then. That's why his points were so minimal.

I said time and time again that Antro wouldn't fetch a first. In the Burke press conference on TSN shortly after the deadline, he implied that he was lucky to get a 2nd.

I would assume both picks are 2009 from everything TSN talked about.

Antropov got a 2nd rounder and 3rd/4th round

Funny how when grouping all leafs fans together in an attempt to bash them, you were wrong on what he did infact get traded for.

I can't speak for all leafs fans, but i thought his value was a late 1st round pick. A 2nd and 3rd isn't far off.

He said had Antropov not picked up his play as of late, then he would have been lucky to fetch a 2nd round.

I heard the conditional pick was a 4th if NYR win two playoff series, so basically just Antropov for 2nd unless they they can beat NJD and Bruins. Little disappointed with the return, as I thought we'd get a 2nd+prospect for him... still better to get the 2nd than watching him walk for nothing in the offseason.

The conditional pick can't be in 2009. The Rangers don't have a 4th rounder in this year's draft.

He's better than Kesler and will easily fetch a 1st rounder. Haha, I love delusional Leafs fans.

Wonder where the Leaf fans are that were saying Andropoff was worth Beach and the Hawks first rounder?

Andropoff is extremely over valued, and honestly, I wouldnt be surprised if the Rags felt sorry for the Leafs and threw them a pity offer, just to keep them interesting in the press.

I like this deal alot. There was pretty much no chance Antropov was going to net a 1st, but the Leafs still came out alright. As for the Rangers, he gives us a nice offensive boost and if he's really terrible, we just don't bring him back. I'm not too worried about his playoff history mostly because at this point, I'd be happy just to get in. I'm looking forward to seeing him here.

Yeah, TSN says it's a 2010 conditional pick.

considering the fact that only 1 first rounder exchanged hands, its not surprising that antropov did not get a 1st, i still believe that he could have gotten a 1st in the 25-30 range, problem is that alot of gms are planning for the future very carefully, due to the economy and the cap probably going down in 2010-2011... its not all that inconceivable, fact is gms were not gonna give up 1sts because its also a very deep draft

I'm guessing you saw one poster proposing Beach. and a 1st? Probably tough to remember when you're spending the afternoon coming up with something as witty as Andropuff.

Ummm.... i would have loved a 1st for antropov... honestly thought he'd be worth a late first. but considering the Rangers are fighting for a spot... the 1st might have ended up in a decent position. this way the chances are its a decent 2nd and a 3rd or 4th which could end up as solid picks.

History is history. I'm not saying he won't perform should the Rangers get into the playoffs. I've said he's had an unproductive history.

The Rangers will have a lot of questions to answer over the next two months and this is another one. Antropov has all the tools to compete and succeed in this league. He's gradually been putting it together. He can make a great case for himself on 7/1 if he puts in a solid two months. We'll see.

Like I said earlier, Derek Morris is a very good pick-up for them and is a nice upgrade over Kalinin.

Most Toronto fans thought he might return a 1st round pick. Many years he probably would have. This year teams were clearly more tight-fisted with their draft picks and Toronto ended up getting a 2nd plus a 3rd/4th.

I fail to see the humour.

A mid 2nd and 3rd rd pick is almost better then a late 1st for the Leafs. They need more prospect depth.

The difference between the late first we were expecting and the 2nd is about 15-20 picks, plus we get an additional 3rd rder. I personally like.

Win for the Leafs imo.

It was usually the Leafs adding players and trading picks. I will take and like the change. Burke is a smart man.
