But can call up a player with an $800K cap hit instead of a $400K cap hit. Why do you dig up a list of players that meet each criteria.

If Briere was to go on IR and miss a week, we can call up someone with a $6.5M cap hit.

I bet you Homer is going to wait until the to make certain moves. This cap problem he created has to be fixed. We werent going to be making any big trades this year at the deadline. If you couldn't see it than i am sorry.
It's not about making big trades, it's about making trades that help the team. The Sharks got Travis Moen, that's not a big trade, but he's really going to help them more than if they traded for Bill Guerin or something.

Its pretty sad to hear that Upshall is upset. But you know its the business side of sports.

Really fascinating to imagine what type of moves we might have made if Holmgren would have sucked it up and waived/traded Jones and his 2.75M cap hit.

I guess Carcillo gives us some snarl in our top-9 too and we get probably 1 mill in cap space for next year.

So Upshall for Carcillo I can at least live with although I don't like it much. The fact that the 2nd is in there though kills me.

I don't want to say it's a horrible move, but it's pretty bad. I can see the rationale for it, but I don't agree with it at all.

The McLaren one isn't bad, he'll be in the AHL, but it gives us depth.
Just plain stupid. Another high draft choice pissed away. Detroit never makes moves like this crappy one.

That is the sharks. If we traded for Moen i don't see him helping us.

I am pissed off about today. Scottie leaving WITH a 2nd rounder has left a really bad taste in my mouth. I loved his play and hopefully he is successful and comes back one day. As for McLaren..... WTF! Thats all I have to say...

Bring back Clarkie!

This and the whole Jones debacle.

Do I still think Homer is a good GM? Yes.

Has my opinion of him gone down somewhat? Also yes.

We can make a trade for a 2nd rounder in 2010. Its not the end of the world dude. People forget we have alot of NHL talent waiting to come up.

When he transitioned from GM on a "rebuilding" team to a GM of a "competing" team...it's been decidedly underwhelming.

Clarke would have made a dumber move than Homer.

He probably would have traded Carter+JVR+1st rnd pick for J.Bo.

Yeah, Clarke's trading history is really marred by a lot of bad trades.

Oh, yeah, his trading record was absurdly good on the whole.

He said in the off-season that it would be harder coming into this season, and after the trade deadline, still has not figured it out. We replace Upshall with a Downie clone who just isn't as dumb as Downie, and the depth move on defense was a Hatcher-like dinosaur who isn't even guaranteed to ever put on the sweater.

I guess the kiss of death in philly is to be a fan favorite.

At least its not as bad as manderville for tibbets. Or patrick sharp for ellison.

These guys who personify Flyers hockey -- they don't win. Flyers hockey hasn't won in 34 years. It's long been time to get away from Flyers hockey and play winning hockey.
? Richards. In the mold of the original orange and black player. Quit being a hater.
