Well finally we have players playing in positions they are actually suppose to play!

Considering what was moved today I think it was a job well done, Antropov is a lot better than getting Guerin or Recchi. Would have liked to get in on that O'Sullivan-Cole-Williams trade but oh well.. as for the lines like I said everyone finally playing on lines they should be on and positions.

Naslund-Gomez-Zherdev
-It's what torts has been going with and we'll see although Antro has speed for a big man I don't think he's fast enough for gomer and naslund.

Dubinsky-Drury-Antropov
- Brings someone to work the boards with Dubi and a better finisher to the line. The first line def has the better stick handling and speed, while here the battles along the boards and pucks to the net and that big 6'6 body as well should be a plus.

Avery-Korpikoski-Callahan
-They will hit, and hit, and hit...it might not hurt but they will attack all 3 potential 20 goal scores I think, but again loads of energy and not going to be as regularly to score like those top 6 will, but these three definitely will put some points on the board and draw lots of power plays..

Sjostrom-Betts-Orr
- If it aint broke don't fix it, and there's nothing like having two of the better pker's in the game here too.

Redden-Rozsival
-Torts wants the highest paid and best players together thats what he's doing...

Staal-Morris
- Some think Morris goes with Mara I think Morris helps out with Staal, he gives him that edge that Girardi doesn't bring to the pairing, and hopefully Morris's snarl and edge bring out Staal's.

Mara-Girardi
- Mara has just jumped out as a leader and that grittier defenseman, so I think this helps much in the same way Morris will help with Staal.

All these are set as for the actual positions like Redden being a left dman, Rozsival a right and so on same for the forwards. I think for a 18 game plus playoff push were in good shape, besides last time I checked we have Henrik Lundqvist in net

I agree with this. Antropov is probably a better fit with Drury 5 on 5 than Gomez.

As for D pairings, this works out perfect with handedness:

Redden-Morris
Staal-Rozsival
Mara-Girardi

Naslund-Gomez-Zherdev
Antropov-Drury-Korpikoski
Avery-Dubinsky-Callahan
Sjo-Betts-Orr

Staal-Morris
Redden-Rozsival
Mara-Girardi

I think that Avery-Dubinsky-Callahan line would be very annoying to play against, but I'm not sure how much sense the Antro-Dru-Korp line makes so if that doesn't work I would switch Korp and Dubie like many others already suggested.

Balanced line-up through-out; Scoring & Grit

Anyways, it's a shame that both Morris and Antro are UFA's after this season. Will we be able to keep both?

My lines would look like this:

Naslund-Gomez-Antropov
Dubinsky-Drury-Zherdev
Avery-Korpikoski-Callahan
Sjostrom-Betts-Orr

Rozsival-Redden
Staal-Girardi
Mara-Morris

Just love the M&M defense pairing. They're going to be a pain in the ass to play against.Going to be fun to watch. Anyone know if they had a gig together in phoenix?

You have grit and scoring on all lines, except the 4th lacks scoring. The grit is highlighted in Bold for each line.

I'm glad we kept Rozsy! He's a very solid d-men w/ a nice contract.

I love how this team is balanced now; like the balanced scoring and grit through-out the line-up. I feel as constructed it's a team built for the play-offs. Our defense looks superb on paper, let's hope it translates onto the ice. Not a bad job by sather. Sure we lose Prucha, but he never got the fair shake here. It's nice to see we got rid of two smallish players and aquired two much bigger players. We def. upgraded our size, and it'll be key if we make it into the play-offs.

This lineup is very deep and balanced. I really like the pickups and I expect the Rangers to try to resign both of them. I know their cap situation is hard-pressed but I expect to see Sather find a way to retain them due to the fact that they are the types of players on this team that are the most unique. This team needs as many 60-70 point players as it can get due to the lack of scoring and they have no one on the back end who plays with any snarl.

It's all about "if" with Antropov.
The talent is there, and he could be a really important player for us.
Derek Morris is just a solid top 4 dman, you know what you're getting there.

Drury is a cancer with talent around him. i would Make an Avery-Dubinsky-Antropov line. Remember how well the Avery-Dubi-Jagr line was for us before Renney broke it up? I think they can do the same.

Naslund-Gomez-Zherdev
Avery-Dubinsky-Antropov
Korpedo-Drury-Callahan
Orr-Betts-Sjo

Staal-Girardi
Mara-Morris
Redden-Roszival

I'm wondering now, if one of our forwards gets hurt who do we stick into the lineup? The organization clearly isn't very high on Voros right now... I guess Mark Bell is the extra plug?

It's weird not having Dawes/Prucha/Fritsche/Rissmiller/Voros constantly sitting in the press box.

Antropov doesn't have grit in the natural sense, but he does know how to protect the puck and use his size to impose his will much in the same way that Jagr did.

Antropov can go to the net and wreak havoc for opposing defenceman.

But no, he's not going to rub guys out and he's not going to push people around, however, he's not going to allow that to happent o him either.

He's a big boy and uses his frame very well.

A solid 2nd liner.

I think Sather did a good job today. IMO, the team is better today than it was days ago (pre-Avery).

Antropov > Dawes/Prucha
Avery > Dawes/Prucha
Morris > Kalinin

We upgraded everything we lost.

Probably if he gave up a high pick... Kalinin is a UFA to be, Prucha hasn't proved much the last few years... I think Dawes was the most valuable piece here...

I am NOT drinking the kool-aid with these deals. Yeah sure, they may look deeper on paper, but they still only have 6-NHL defenseman now that Reitz is gone and you need at least 7 going into the playoffs.

Sathers inability to manage that cap lead to tossing away Prucha and Dawes for less than what they are worth in return.

IMO Antropov is a bum.

As of now, I dont want to resign either of these guys, but the jury is still out on Morris because i havent seen him that much lately. Not sure how hell fit into Torts system. I dont think hes going to make THAT much of a difference though.

Not impressed, even with Avery thrown in.

I understand that the Rangers prob wouldnt have signed Prucha or Dawes, but if that was the case Sather should have traded one or both much earlier in the year and probably would have gotten back more than to wait till 3 minutes before the deadline and get pressed into something. The Devils made the best deal getting an under rated defensman for an ok prospect. The Rangers gave away 3 NHL roster players and got a UFA and not a single pick back. I could have stomached that Morris deal if a pick was thrown in to make up for the 2 gone in the Antropov deal.

really??? reitz is an average NHLer nothing more. prucha had NO value. dawes is overrated by our fanbase.

Avery, Morris, Antropov > Prucha, Dawes, Kalinin
