LA trading one of their better scorers for an injured Justin Williams can only help the Stars cause in this game... hopefully Morrison proves to not be completely useless, anything positive he does is a gain. He has the talent, he has played well in the past and should be a 20 goal guy. Maybe the combo of coming off of offseason surgery and poor chemistry in Anaheim did him in. There is definitely the possibility he can find chemistry here

So the Kings will be without Patty O'Sullivan going forward. I consider that a positive for us. It's fairly amusing how they develop all these players and then promptly proceed to give them away.
I think "ulcer inducing" is the correct term.

Great GDT, by the way. Good luck tonight.

LA wearing their 3rd jerseys tonight. Wonder if that means we're wearing our's as well.

Another note...the Kings are 1-5-2 in their last eight games at Staples Center.

the road jersey need something more too it, It needs stripes or something. That isn't going to happen on the edge jersey though. The alternate is fine because it's like the home

No. The Stars wear their third jersey only once more: March 10th against the Blues.

I'm not going to quote an exact number of games we need to win to make the playoffs, but it's pretty safe to say this one is must-win with Anaheim coming up tomorrow.

Hopefully the Kings realize their GM has given up on the season and do the same..

If Los Angeles gave up on the season then Dallas is trying to tank for Tavares I guess .....

LA didn't trade UFA's Kyle Calder, Derek Armstrong, Denis Gauthier, Sean O'Donnell, or Erik Ersberg.

In fact, Ersberg and O'Donnell signed contract extensions. Plus, when is trading a young player and a pick for a veteran rebuilding?

EDIT: Rebuilding is the wrong word but you know what I mean.

Yep, that makes perfect sense for a team that thinks they have a chance to make the playoffs.

They didn't trade Anze Kopitar, and Patrick O'Sullivan is 5th on their team in scoring. Justin Williams is supposed to be healthy in a couple of weeks.

They pretty much did nothing, which is what Dallas did. With Richards, Morrow, and Zubov out, they probably even have more talent then Dallas does. I just don't understand dumping on LA.

Even Razor was writing this game off after the San Jose win. If Dallas wins tonight, it will be because they played well. LA easily has the ability to make Dallas look silly.

Whoops. Misread something then.

Either way, don't see how what they did helps them at all.

And I'm not dumping on Los Angeles. God knows they'll probably beat us with Sydor still out there.

I was more annoyed by Razor. When LA wasn't good, they embarrassed Dallas. Now, I believe they're a good team. Plus, Jack Johnson is healthy.

FYI, I think Justin Williams is an amazing player that's dealt with some freak injuries like Morrow. If he comes back healthy in mid-March, he could really help the team make a strong push for the playoffs. If not, next year's top line for LA could be one of the best in the league. Williams is a PPG - 30G guy, and he's only 27. Long term, this could be the best trade at the deadline.

EDIT: Patrick O'Sullivan isn't that great IMO either. His holdout stunt at the start of the year was just the beginning of the end with LA, and it's not like this move even put a small dent in their pool of talented young players.

Los Angeles is a good team, but much like the Stars are...they're very inconsistent.

I think this all comes down to they finally have a goaltender that can stop the puck. Not to mention, they finally have some defense. They have always been able to score goals.

Anyone know how far Bernier is away from going to LA?

Haha yeah sorry, I probably just saw one of you guys type it and typed it by accident. I think Prime ticket and FSN West are different, one for hte ducks and one for the Kings. I can't quite remember, having to listen to Brian Hayward is too much punishment either way.

Also they didn't Trade OD because they'd have to give the Ducks would get a 3rd round pick (I think?) in return.

And honestly, who cares if the Stars wear their third? They're boring and they suck, much like the other two in comparison to the jerseys that predated them.

LA is more than talented enough to beat Dallas. For the first time in forever either Quick or Ersberg is also good enough to steal a game.

Honestly it depends on how Dallas plays. They show up like Tuesday they can absolutely win. If they are flat or the kids Neal and Bruno don't play well then they'll probably lose.

Quite frankly the rest of the Stars' season will depend on those two wingers. I expect good things out of Ribs and company but Neal and Bruno are going to have to show up for this team to win 11 more games down the stretch. We'll see how it unfolds but those two and Eriksson are the key.

You're probably right HF, and that's exactly why we'll miss the playoffs. If you're relying on two rookies to complement your regulars you're probably screwed, and we are. Unless Morrison finds huge chemistry with some of them I just don't see it. Modano loves it at the tank, and most of me thinks he'll go back to sucking like usual anywhere else.

For the record Quick has had an ugly string of games lately, and I'm guessing Ersberg will be pumped to start after signing his new contract. Although he totally got ripped off and deserved more, but whatever. If I made 750K a year I wouldn't complain too much.

Jere Lehtinen out with an upper body injury. He's been walking around with ice on his neck/shoulder per Heika.

Lines from practice:

Quote:
Ott-Ribeiro-Parrish

Neal-Morrison-Brunnstrom

Eriksson-Modano-Conner

Sutherby-Begin-Barch
Happy except for Conner. Like Heika said, I'd rather Sutherby play with Modano and Eriksson.

Quote:
If this is what they're trying, I would like to see a checking line of
Sutherby-Modano-Eriksson.

Christ it never ends with this team.

Jere you're killing me.

Eriksson should be up with Ribs rather than that spare Parrish.

Here's what I'd like to see tonight.

Ott-Ribiero-Eriksson
Morrison-Modano-Conner
Neal-Sutherby-Bruno
Begin-Lundqvist-Barch

That's not pretty. At all.
