Only reason we won was because Ovie was out.

We?

Unless, of course, you're just mocking the majority of Leaf fans and I missed it.

I remember when we acquired Gerber and Leaf fans were like "YES!!! he will help us lots with our tanking!"
.
.
.
Can you please explain why you would EVER in your right mind think this?
Imo Gerber is the same or better then Toskala.

I wanted the Leafs to pick up Gerber at the trade deadline, the year we got RON FRANCIS.

Gerber was solid back then. maybe he's back.

Gerber as a starter is a bad idea. We've all seen that.

But he's a very good back up goalie. A Toskala/Gerber 50/30 game tandem next year might work well if Gerber signs cheap.

agreed, IMO he is up there amongst the best backup goaltenders in the league simply because he has the potential to take over a game and we have all seen that numerous times. The problem arises when he is overplayed because he just doesnt have it in him to string together a solid effort throughout the season as a starter

20 bucks says Gerber plays good, gets rewarded with a big contract in the off season from some stupid team (hopefully not us) then hides in a shell again.
I like Gerber and hope he both plays well in his time with us and gets another chance to be a starter in the NHL next year, but this seems to be the trend in the NHL lately. Goaltending's a tricky position that bites desperate teams in the rear. I also think good goaltending can be bought for cheap instead of throwing big money around. I would much rather spend that money on defence, then pick up a Clemmenson rather then spend 3-5 mill on a Gerber or Theodore.

Slightly less then a 0% chance, IMO, that Gerber is here next season.

Well if Pogge by then still hasn't earned an opportunity to play in the NHL as a backup then...who knows? Keep him as a backup till Pogge is ready (if ever) then send Gerber on down to the Marlies.

After his taste of the AHL, he will be playing like he's a starving dog, and the puck is a filet mignon.

Of course =) but I meant it in jest, though I'd like to see the Leafs end up with Hedman or Tavares after losing their biggest star and not a single one within sight.

Pogge should be playing all the games.. having Gerber Baby in there to win meaningless games is pointless.

If they were going to shaft Pogge like this, they should have at least moved him somewhere - anywhere where he'd get a legit chance at developing at the NHL level.

And now you guys are talking about having Gerber as backup next season.. wasn't Pogge supposed to be the backup next season instead???
