What upside is there for a guy who's going to turn 34 before the start of next season? He relies on his athletic skills to make plays because he's not a very technical goal keeper. Age catches up to all of us. Maybe he's still got three to five years. I don't know, but my best guess is probably not. I don't believe there's a way in the world he gets moved this off season. I do question as should everyone whether he should be retained beyond the length of his current contract.

What baring do stats three years ago have on him now? If he were 28 going into his prime they'd be relevant. 33 soon to be 34, questions about the quality of his play lately seem a little more important.
I'm not disputing that he is getting older, but to jump to such a conclusion that due to one season of subpar play we should get rid of him, is pretty ridiculous. Who would you have take his place, Stephan? Honestly.

I don't care if he is 28 or 38, I'm not for snap judgments because a player has a bad season. Questioning the quality of his play should be done due to this season, but dumping him with no reliable goaltender that would be any better would be irresponsible and just plain stupid.

He signed his current contract extension in 05-06. Make of that what you will.

so who do like as a replacement (smitty is gone so get over it)? do you go after another puck moving goalie or someone more traditional (and change the way the stars play D)? Do you bring in someone to tutor Bachman/Krahn or do you try for someone you can win with immediately after next year?

The Stars activated Landon Wilson for IR, the link is on the Stars website.

This could only mean that Barch or Parrish will finally be scratched. I hope its Barch I have nothing against him I just don't want to see him play all 82 games.

As long as HullJack exists Turco is never going to be moved.

I'm not sure Dallas has a replacement in house. Maybe Bachman but he may need more than one year of AHL, if he turns pro this year at all.

Best hope is to find a team like Washington or Tampa that has several goalies and may be willing to part with one. In that case you're relying on scouting and again making a trade. Best scenario is to find a deal like St. Louis did last year at the draft, move a pick for a guy who is not in another team's plan. That's how Chris Mason ended up in St. Louis from Nashville for a 4th round pick. I can't say I know near enough about goalie depth in the league to say here's who we should target but someone will probably be available. And with Turco signed though next year you may be able to expand the search to a guy in the AHL next season who isn't necessarily NHL ready at the beginning of the season but may be able to seize the job going forward.

Why would you think that? They're not the ones who gave Turco that contract? They're also not the ones insisting he play every night. I don't know that they're anti-Turco but I don't think it can be said either way that they want to extend him or not.

Wouldn't surprise me if we see Brunnstrom in the pressbox, and Parrish on the PP again.

You know you watch too much Stars hockey when you notice that one of the announcers got a haircut.

It probably cost three times what it would have cost here in Texas. Must be some hair stylist.

Great debut by Christensen.

Talk about a team that's getting softer in a hurry...
