Congrats (or sorry, if you're going for the tank) on your win. How'd the protest go?

Shutout KARI LEHTONEN.

Best game of the year by the thrashers defensively.

What a great game to watch! Price kept them in the game. Our defense was very good. Bogosian had an excellent night. A very good win.

What's that 0 in the other team's score column? Is that what a shutout looks like? We don't see many of those. Nice job by the Thrashers.

Hell yes, Bogosian was noticably a huge factor tonight.

See, See, See......

When Lehtonen has a DEFENSE playing just as much as he is, he is unstopable. Wow what a game!

Kovy with 2 more points, Pevs with an EN to keep his points per game exact.

Bring on Calgary

Even though Montreal didn't play a good game, hopefully this gives our guys a little confidence to finish the season strong. Screw the tank, play for pride.

I agree. No tank. The last month this team has been different. Much better. If we keep this up, we can have some hope for next year.

Your guys didn't play with much passion or jump.

Not that you said this, but many Montreal fans tonight are complaining about 'losing to the 2nd worst team in the league' -- it's true, and it should be easier to win against teams like Atlanta, but the Thrashers do win games from time to time.

I honestly think the difference between the top teams and the bottom teams at any given time in the season isn't really that dramatic. Every team has at least some reasonable chance of winning any game they play.

Two questions:

1) why haven't I heard Kari called Hamburgler before?
2) what was the misconduct on Exelby about?

I got a kick out of that. If that is true, it explains his lack of physical conditioning in the past.

Just got back home, saw the hightlights and wow, was i confused. What was this team on tonight?? The defense, shutout, looked like this team was totally in control.

Also, from the replay footaged, looked like the protest was a monster success with - packed house at Phillips??

well i just got back from the game. easily my favorite game i've ever gone to so far. to see our thrashers play such great defense and kill penalties makes me want to shed a tear. and my favorite player got the shutout to top it all off! WOOOO!

that was easiest the loudest crowd at philips i've ever been a part of btw. i'm a little hoarse now from screaming so loud.

EDIT: oh i almost forgot, you guys all need to chip in and buy me some season tickets, cause we're 9-0 now when i go to the games

Oh, you're real mature, aren't you.

If LaVallee was good enough to be on this team, he would be in Atlanta instead of Chicago.

Carey Price is so over rated. I dropped him in my fantasy league for Pekka Rinne and never looked back. Price is the definition of giving up horrible goals. I watched them play Buffalo two nights ago and he was horrible as usual. Thankfully Halak is sick.

Can we start some "If you suck and you know it clap your hands"(x2) "if you suck and you know it and you really wanna show it if you suck and you know it clap your hands" then, Price sucks.

Then... Caaaaareyyyyyy, Caaaareyyyyyy, you suck!

My prediction for tonights game.
Thrashers 6
Habs 3

Kovalchuk with 3 goals... bring hats
Again, I say, you really need to grow up. Are you JA Millionaire from the official boards? Because you really act like him.

I heard the "protest" was an absolute bust. 14,800 is 4000 shy of a packed house. Considering the trend for the season, I expect the announced attendance of 14,800 to be exaggerated by a few thousand at least.

The number estimate I was given was below 50 "protesters" out of 10,000+ in the arena.

Apparently one of the ideas the "protesters" had was to put on the papers bags and hold their signs after the Habs scored a goal, and Kari pitched a freaking shutout.

I should give you mine. I am not sure of my record, but over the last two years I am like 4 - 20.

Ah, bummer - that's unfortunate. Guess the replay footage was really misleading.... because it seemed like a large crowd there.

I have to say that the crowd seemed really loud on television. That was easily one of the loudest crowds I have ever heard at a Thrashers home game that I watched on TV.

I think the defense played great tonight. Bogo and Enstrom looked like our best defensive pairing, makes me excited about the future of the defense. The forwards did a great job of back checking tonight. From what I saw, and anyone who was there in person can contradict or elaborate if they want, but it looked like 2 forwards collapsed low and only left one forward high. This lead to some great team defense, but hurt the team a little when they were trying to get the puck out of the defensive zone sometimes.

The other thing I noticed, was that when the game got a little chippy, it seemed that Anderson broke up the 4th line and tried to put some muscle on each line to ensure there was always someone out there to deal with any shenanigans.

The only thing that disappointed me about last night's game, was no one stepping to O'Bryne later in the game for going after Bogo, the commentators pointed out when it happened that this needed to be done, and mentioned it later in the game as well. The team is no slouch when it comes to being physical, but I think they really lack as a team on answering some of the cheap shots and underhanded tactics of other teams.

Per Knobler from his blog over at the ajc:

Ex got the unsportsmanlike conduct, he said, for bumping into some Montreal players as he left the ice after the second period. He said the real genesis of the penalty was that he accused the ref of playing favorites early in the game and the ref was getting even with him for that.

Oh hells yes Kozlov deserved a star. He caught my eye all night long. It's a shame he's getting old because that guy does it all. tracking back on defense, slick passing, creating space. Nice to see the Atlanta media and broadcasters not simply looking at the scoresheet when deciding on the stars. #13 was well deserving.

I have to admit to being stunned with the win since the game was dominated by special teams. Considering how weak we are on the kill the shutout is especially surprising. And while talking about the PK I have to say I love the way the Habs kill penalties. Very agressive with pressuring the points. Keeping the play on the perimeter and contesting shots. We are so damned passive on our kill. Fall into our box and pray.

Two much maligned goaltenders had big nights last night. Very good to see!
