The real issue was Muckler low-balling Havlat the years before the trade.
Remember his 1.7- 2million dollar offers the two off seasons before?
Havlat had 69pts in 69gp in a year where the highest scorer in the league had 92 pts (or around that). PPG he was in the top 10 I believe. On the third line and 2nd line PP. That's incredible.
Even Martin said he was our best player the second half of the year.
Well before he was traded he could have been signed up and locked for a long time for MUCH less than 6million. Muckler low balled him over and over and we had this player constantly miss training camp and pick up groin injuries here and there until that shoulder seperation and the rushed surgery we gave him (which has been the cause for his lack of playing since - minus the last corrective operation which gave him a whole season).
Muckler really dismantled this team. Redden over Chara and Havlat mistreatment sticks well out over Gerber's signing.
