What's the magic number this year? Still around 93 points?

If so, we need to go 8-8-0 to get in.

This year its really tight, so i would think we might need more then that. The Magic number this year might be more along the lines of 95 or so points. If so, we would need to go at least 9-7-0 the rest of the way. I would prefer to go 16-0 just to make sure though..

Rangers and Flyers have the most games against teams we are fighting with, so hopefully we won't see a lot of three point games.

As for the Habs, they don't have a lot of games left with the teams we are fighting with. That could be good or bad depending on how things work out, but the Habs have a very nice schedule the rest of way (especially this month with 9 out 10 at home).

Our winning % at home this season is something like 66% so far. If we keep it that then we should win about 7 home games. And I think that's still a little pessimistic. Then we got 6 road games where we can definitely go 2-4, right? Right?

LOL...Who knows with the way we play on the road we might be lucky to take 1 of 6...

Looking at the skeds...MTL and PIT are the ones with the big advantage. They each play 9 of their next 10 at home. NYR and CAR really have tough skeds.

A couple of big games tonight (besides the Habs)...Sabres @ Flyers and Panthers @ Pens. A Flyers win would be best and whoever in the Pens game just as long as they are not 3 point games.

We should be able to win our next two home games if we want to make the playoffs. Both Edmonton and New York Islanders are very beatable teams.

Updated as of last nights results. Huge win for the Hurricanes over the Rags. Ward shut them out 3-0

Suggestion: You should use a table for your standings like this:

2 big games tonight: Florida at Pittsburgh and Buffalo at Philadelphia. I just hope both games are finished in regulaton.

Indeed. A lot of teams we're currently in the mix with for the playoffs seem to be playing each other these days.

If we start winning some games we might actually pull out of the pack.

It's always like that every year. The NHL knows this, which is why the finishes are so exciting.

They predicted Pittsburgh would be a bottom seed and that Florida would actually be in a playoff spot? It's just a coincidence, if anything.

Well, they do it to an extent.

It's not a coincidence that in 2007-2008 we played Toronto in the last game of the season when the previous year both teams were fighting each other for that last playoff spot down to the last day.

This year we finish against Pittsburgh when last year we were battling them for top spot in the conference.

We have *two games* in hand on two teams (Buffalo - 4 points, Carolina - 2 games).

We need to win those two games, and we will then have a 4 point cushion over the the 9th and 10th teams, respectively.

Sorry for the delay in updating it boys!

Mixed results for last night. We keep pace with the Flyers but everybody else (minus Buffalo) is gaining points as well. That 3 point game between Florida and Pittsburgh was the worst result we could have hoped for.

The Habs have 15 games left with a possible 30 points up for grabs. Since we have a lot of home games left and most of the teams we are playing against are inferior to us (in the standings), it's actually still possible for us to finish with 100 points this year, which would only be 4 points less then last year. Through all the **** we've been though this year to finish with a solid amount of points like that would be very decent. It hasn't been pretty, but we might be able to finish off the year strong.

Habs need a record of 10-4-1 till the end of the year to finish with 100 points. Not impossible..but will be a challenge.

We have 10 of the remaining 15 games at home with 12 of 15 games against teams with "inferior" records to us. Should be entertaining!!
