It's Higgins' brother. So this should stay open. I hope it's Carbonneau. Please be Carbonneau. Or Metropolit.

its pretty damn obvious thats it is 1 of 3 things :

- Sergei skippin north america
- Halak skippin north america/sitting out till traded in offseason
- Carbonneau has been dismissed by Gainey

now, the 3rd option is probably unlikely, but its what im voting for

i dont see absolutely anything else that is possibly materialistic right now then these 3 options, would hate to lose sergei or halak this way tho, but valatenko has alrdy done it, and i wouldnt be surprised either if this is whats happaned again.

like so many have said, ...what a season...

Well, we know that no player with a secure spot in the NHL would ever just get up and leave. Could we see another Grabovski-type situation? If so, the only candidates I see are Sergei Kostitsyn and Halak -- both which I think would be crushing blows to the organization. Laraque may also be unhappy, but I just can't see him walking out.

Could one of our better prospects be heading overseas? Maybe, but that doesn't sound like the kind of shakeup that would affect the big club.

Could Carbonneau be getting the axe? I highly, highly doubt Gainey would ever fire him, but it's especially unlikely after a win when the team is still holding a playoff spot. Besides, that's not something Higgins would know about well before the media finds out...coaching changes are pretty instant.

Could Timmins be joining another team? Could an assistant coach be moving on? Maybe Melanson doesn't like what's been happening with Halak, who knows.

I think Gainey is here for the long haul and even if he weren't I'd be absolutely shocked to see him step down in the middle of a season.

Could someone have a season- or career-ending injury? Unless Lang or Laraque had a major setback I doubt it, and that wouldn't be a huge shakeup anyways since the team isn't counting on them at the moment.

A legend has serious health problems?

I don't know, I can't really think of any other possibilities and none of the ones I came up with seem all that realistic. Hopefully it's nothing.

Seems you're enjoying this quite a bit for someone who doesn't have time for this stuff.

Nothing personal, but I've learned a long time ago not to believe people who claim to have all sorts of sources and conveniently hide behind the anonymity of a keyboard.

Time will tell if you, or I will eat crow I guess.

What could possibly be such a big shake-up at this time of the year and after a win in Dallas?

If you do speak the trugh only think I come up with is Laraque either retiring from hockey or getting waived.

Sergei won't skip North America. The Russian season is over and his brother is here. Doesn't make any sense.
Halak wouldn't go to Slovakia. He hasn't lost the starting job here and he's seriously built his value so at the very least he can force his way into a trade next season and make NHL money. Slovakian season is almost over as well.

I can understand why you wouldn't want to tell us out of respect for your brothers position, and not wanting to drop him in a big steamy pile of crap.... but then why bait us, you know how fragile these guys are. Crap just answered my own question
