Random Hockey Question

So today I heard somewhere that if you participated in more than a certain amount of games for a team in a year, if they win the cup you get a ring from them even if you've been traded. does this make sense to anyone? is it true? and if so.. couldn't there be a possibility of getting to the finals and receiving a ring even if you lose?

Hypothetically if the amount of games played was 30 and lets say... Clemensen was traded from NJ to SJ and those two teams met in the finals, wouldn't Clemensen be guaranteed a ring?

Just wondering. thanks.

Without looking it up I'm going to go out on a limb and say that's not true.

The man-games played rule for getting your name on the Cup is usually intended for injured players or guys who are in and out of the lineup a lot.

no, because he's not apart of the Devils anymore if they win.

if we traded Kovalev and we won a cup, why would he still get a ring from us?

Yeah, you still have to be on the team. The rule is for injured guys. Say Halak's season ended today due to injury, he'd still get his name engraved if MTL won.

My random hockey question:

About waivers... how are the selection ranks made? Is it possible to know in advance which team will be first on the list? Let's say the Habs want to bring back an RSL prospect for playoffs depth, can they settle a deal with the first team on the list (which logically would be a team desprate for draft picks) so that team picks him up then trades him to us?

im pretty sure the rings are organized by the team and have nothing to do with the NHL.

therefore, the team can give a ring to whoever they think deserves it.

i doubt any player would want a ring if they were not on the team anyway.

Trade deadline is past and and the waivers,i think start with low team in the standings. If if a team picked up one of our call ups we could not get him back until trades open up again. However I think we are allowed to bring up guys without having to clear waivers(maybe just guys who would not have to go through waivers anyway) now because the roster limit changes after the trade deadline.
