And you can't tell me that Reichel is a big part of the Leafs
I will step up and go to bat for Robby on this one. He has been the whipping boy in the past, but this year, he has given it his all. He's going to finish with 30-35 points in 69GP. He has been the 3rd/4th line centre all year, with fairly limited PP time. He and Fitzgerald are our two best penalty killers, and when Reichel plays with Tucker/Domi, he actually throws what little weight he has around and battles hard. He is good defensively (notice tonight how he caught up to Perreault on the back-check.....even though Yanic scored, Reichel was there to cover up for Marchment's huge blunder) and is good on face-offs.

Is he the motor that gets this team going? No. But he has contributed and doesn't deserve the crap that he gets (at least not this year).

Well, your most recent "Leaf fans always have their excuses" comment gives me an idea about what you think of Leaf fans.

Stop trying to be funny and to be rude, all you do is making a fool of yourself.

On the other hand, Francis didn't impress me at all against the Habs, but I think it's a matter of time he plays better, as for Kovalev.

Let's put things into perspective here.

Ron Francis was an addition that cost the Leafs a 4th round pick. That constitutes a minor addition. He's a great veteran presence, but I don't think we're looking at him to be the Ron Francis of 1991. Although he does need to be better.

You are right. We should welcome more Leafs = Old posts by Hab fans. There are not nearly enough.

Holy crap. You criticize people for being a troll... You are a prime example of what is wrong with any internet community, and many people in the world I might add. Why is it that people cannot accept other's opinions? Honestly, so long as they dont infringe on you, what does it matter if someone expresses an opinion that is different than yours?

Accept it. People are going to have differing opinions. You are not the sole source. Take other's input and dont simply reject in on the basis that it differs from your ideal.

And there is my self-righteousness for the day...

The Leafs are near the top right now, but the slope of their trend line is downward. Fortunately for them, there are only 8 or 9 teams capable of making the playoffs this season, and their chances of finshing in the top 8 are a lot better than average because of this gap. The only question is where they will finish.

Well, we earned that gap. That's why they say 2 points in October is the same as 2 points in March -- because it's true. It's not fortunate at all.

Bud, If you think Reichel is useless, you have not seen him play. Reich is alway's there trying to get something going, and how often have you seen hiim mess up. Put him on with Sundin and Mogilny, and you will see how effective his play is.

Francis played a good game, a little slow though and I wonder if he'll keep up with the banging the comes with the playoffs.

Mogilny, I didn't even know he was playing until he got 1 good shot off in the 3rd.

MacCabe has become one of the best d-men in the NHL, he should get a look at Team Canada.

Stajan, this kid has a nose for the net which can't be taught.

Belfour, 3 or 4 times he look surprised after Kovalev took shots at him. His knowledge and placement keeps him in the game, because it's not his agility any more.

he's 6 foot 3

he can take morethen most 41 yr olds

Nobody needs to worry about Ron Francis pulling his weight when it counts.Give him the rest of the regular season to learn the leafs system and to recognize the strengths and weaknesses of his linemates.Come playoff time,Ron Francis will be an important part of any success we have.Anyone that expected huge offensive numbers or blinding speed was destined for disappointment. We're a better team for the playoffs with him than we were without.

I haven't read this whole thread.

But I'm thinking, if Francis looks old maybe it's because he IS old.

We're not asking him to perform miracles here. We just need him to be our 3rd line center. He'll do a great job.

I actually think Francis's looks younger then he is. He looks like he could play another three years.
