Bryce Lampman

Heard he was called up and I was just wondering how he was playing. What is his potential and who does he play like?

He's been adequate thus far. I can't say that he's stood out either way, really. He's got a pretty good shot and seems to be a great skater; more of an offensive defenseman but one who shows a good understanding and responsibility in his own zone.

He's only played a few games so I think it would be unfair to judge his potential fully but I'd say a top 5 defender.

Certainly better than Purinton in every category other than fighting.

Bryce has played pretty well. Hasn't shown that much nervousness when he's got the puck which is nice to see. Also handled the puck along the blueline nicely when he got some PP time earlier tonight. Not that flashy, but hasn't made too many rookie mistake either. Definately needs to bulk up a bit though over the summer.

well lampman has impressed... he almost made the club last year as a 20 year old.. probably wouldve made it this year if he didnt get injured.. its not ofton a kid seemingly coming from no where makes this sather ran team out of training camp... i think he is a solid defenseman someone that is in the de vries mold... i think he is can nicely round out a top 4 and would be a solid #5 on a good team

projects as a solid but unspectacular stay at home defenseman who can move the puck okay but isnt going to get a ton of points.

As noted he nearly made this years team as a 21 year old until he seperated his shoulder.

I've been impressed with what of seen of him

He looks to be a steady -d-men, willing to take the body, has good positioning and seems to be able to play one-on-one defensively. He knows his role, looks like he can handle the puck, and has actually shown more than I expect offensively. He has shown a willingness to join the play. I like him with Rachunek, since it seems like Rachunek needs a steady partner.

To me, Lampman looks like he might be a Sylvain Lefebvre-type, pre-Rangers of course. Steady and unspectacular, willing to take the body but not very physical, at his best when you don't notice him at all.
