IMO 15 points in the remaining 14 games will get them into the playoffs. 95 points is the number which may be overestimating, but it's my safe number. It starts Saturday versus the Devils. I would be happy to grab a point against that team right now. So, let's make a sprint for that 15 points and perhaps have games remaining to get to the 100 point mark.

They have to go 7-6-1? Ouch, now I feel less optimistic.

All they need is to go 10-4 to get 100 points.

Considering their record at home and the fact they have 9 more home games out of the remaining 14 games I think it's very possible. So, they stunk one up vs the Isles. If they beat the Devils on Saturday you'll change your opinion as quickly as a woman with bipolar. If they win 6 out of those 9 home games and win one out of 5 on the road with an ot loss along the way they'll certainly make the playoffs and then some.

So, you don't think they can win 6 out of 9 at home the rest of the way and win 1 out of 5 on the road along with one ot/so loss in one of those road losses? "What are you smokin?" is the question. I'm guessing they'll win 7 of those 9 at home and 2 on the road for 18 points. That's good for 98 points on the season.

Actually 6-8 gets us 8th place in the bulk of possible outcomes from the remaining games. There are scenarios where that same 6-8 results in us being 4th place, btw. Remote, but possible, so no need to over-analyze it too much right now.

edit: heck, there's a 1 in 2 million chance that 2-12 still nets us 8th place, so no worries!!

They've been hangin' out on the ice much the same way all year and have only 6 regulation home losses anyway you slice it. I'm actually being pessimistic in saying they'll lose 3 of their next 9 at home (50% more of what they've lost all year at home).

ya know its all up to the players if they want to be in the playoffs =/
let's hope they can skate and shoot the puck in the net not outside

6 and 3 at home
2 and 3 on the road

This is underestimating and they still make it easily into the playoffs. I say they win 7 of 9 at home and grab 18 points over the next 14 games. 98 points should get them 4th or 5th seed for certain.

Hopefully the bottom feeders will continue to win games against teams that are fighting for the same spots as us.

Heres How I'm Hoping it breaks down.

March
Devils L
Rangers W
@ Sens L
Leafs W
Lightning W
Trashers W
Sabres W
Blackhawks L

April
@ Islanders W
@ Leafs W
Senators W
@ Rangers L
@ Bruins L
Penguins L

This Give us a record of 8-7
We can Hope at least 2 of the losses are in OT or SO
Giving us around 16-18pts.
This should be more than enough to get in.
Not to mention we have the POTENTIAL to win more than 8

I too think we will finish at 98 points (if not, then 97-100), and it could come to the last game vs Pens to decide for that 5th spot.

What's the use of making the playoffs if we play like we do.
Get the fans to pay for 16 games and keep their money all summer.

Hard to predict the upcoming games but the key is to get to make sure that as many of the losses occur in OT or a SO to get the extra point. Truth is, the schedule is favorable, so the Habs should be able to get those 15 of 28 points but this team is so inconsistent it could get 10 or 20 points in those game. For instance, given that this team has lost it's last 2 games to Atlanta, can we for sure say that game is a "W?" Or even the Isles game?

Fact is the Habs, playing really, really bad, were .680 at their last 9 games.

Why is it so hard to imagine that we could be .500 for the rest ? And don't go saying goalie, luck etc....That's part of the game.

I don't think they've had a record like that in a good long while. I don't see it happening.

Woa...I'm so not optimistic right now....playing above 0.500 seems impossible for this team nowadays.

Stop trying to use logic and facts. It's pointless...The Habs suck, Gainey sucks, Gillet sucks, we should fire everyone then hire the AntiChambre crew to lead us into the light.

Including last night's game, this team's record over the last 14 games is 7-5-2. This team can easily play .500 hockey, even if they are slumping. People need to chill out a bit.
