Devils @ Canadiens | 03.14.09 7:00PM on RDS

“There are milestones in a player’s career that deserve to be recognized and playing 1,000 NHL games is one of them,” explained Gainey, who will make room for "Breezer" by sitting Ryan O'Byrne, “It’s a testament to Patrice's longevity and his performance and to be able to stay and compete and to be a good enough player to be in the NHL and play 1,000 games. I’m glad Patrice can reach that milestone here where he started his career.” - Bob Gainey

what's up with our GDT creators not stepping up when the team needs us the most?

Wow. Could he circumstances be more badly designed for us in this game?

From the TSN homepage:

The fact that Martin Brodeur could tie the record for all-time wins by an NHL goaltender on Saturday makes for a pretty interesting storyline on its own. The fact that he could do it in his hometown, playing against his favourite childhood team, right in front of the legendary current record-holder who just happened to be his idol growing up - puts the level of intrigue off the charts.

Sprinkle in our general suckiness and this one has all of the ingredients to blow up in our face.

I expect a playoffs game tonight, we have been humiliated enough in the last 15 years by losing badly to the teams where our former players were on or just losing shamefully at home when there were celebrations, honoring our legends.. Habs fans have been humiliated enough, its time to turn the corner and do the same to a futur legend like Brodeur.. He wont get that reccord here and I wish he does not even come close to get it, lets just give them a good correction!!! Just let focus, regroup and be mentally ready to crush them!! Go Habs Go!!!

3-1 Devils. I have no confidence whatsoever when it comes to playing them.

Thanks for nothing, CBC.

What a horrible broadcaster we have for Saturday games. This is potentially a big moment in hockey history, and we in the east have to watch the worst team in history - the stinkin toronto maple laffs.

If HarryI watches this game, receives updates on this game, or even thinks about this game.. I will hunt him down and personally spank him infront of his whole family. That is all.

If you get CBC Montréal you should be able to watch it. If you live in Montréal, your CBC should be CBC Montréal.

I do not.

Pretty stupid of CBC not to switch the nation to this game. Just shows just how out of touch with the sport they are.

Scott Moore? You suck!

Anybody know the lineup for tonight? Is Lats back?

Let's shut Brodeur's fantasy down. Let's hope the guys play their hearts out and beat NJ for once.

Anybody know what hall of famer is going to part of the ceremonies? It says hall of famer night....
Also, anybody know what jersey they will be wearing?

I always have a sense of trepidation when it comes to the Devils. It seemed that last year we turned a corner but it was ephemeral. However, I will go out on a limb and say that the Habs will win this one 4-3 after being out shot 20-3 in the second period.

Funny how all the Montreal medias are taking a Brodeur win tonight for granted.

Son père Denis, lui-même un ancien gardien et photographe de métier, avait l'intention d'immortaliser la soirée avec son appareil-photo depuis la section 116 du Centre Bell.

Given our record against the Devils, it seems a given. But, as they say, you have to play the game to see if the end result is a as predicted.
