Well, I think there's 5 established NHL guys that aren't going anywhere unless it's for an elite player:
Ovechkin, Backstrom, Green, Semin, Laich
Beyond that, these prospects are likely in the same boat:
Alzner, Varlamov, Carlson, Neuvirth
I'd imagine anyone else is available for the right price.
If GMGM were to go after a Volchenkov, Tallinder, Lydman, or Hamhuis, each have under a $3 million cap hit, so the moving out of salary wouldn't be that big of a deal, especially if Mo goes the other way.
I wasn't challenging you or anything. I literally meant that you should just say "I am presuming X, Y, and Z are available so what's the best deals we can maybe swing?"
Right now, it's all blind guesswork because we have no hints of any sort from GMGM about who we might be offering up, and affirmative statements suggesting that we're "fine" in goal and defensively as is.
Other than Nylander (duh), we can only speculate at who might be identified as a target we would be especially willing to part with, and who isn't.
There are numerous players at every salary strata that I think would improve our team in realistic trades. I just haven't the slightest clue where to begin at this point.

Is there a single person on the planet who wouldn't have gladly exchanged Mo and Juice for Skrasnis and Zanon? To do so would have apparently been only $400k more expensive than the current QO's for Mo and Juice. And after arbitration, who knows.

And I agree, it's guesswork, but I think we can make assumptions that there's not a limited inventory of players deemed avaialble to management, considering GMGM has repeated his desire to make some trades.

I'm not a huge fan of Exelby's. Don't think he offers much more than Jurcina.
The TSN panel was just gushing about him yesterday. Not sure if that was spin directed at making the trade look better in the eyes of Maple Leafs fans watching the broadcast or what...but Feaster and McGuire wanted to have his baby.
Knuble also had interest from Dean Lombardi in LA, and that was a direct quote from an interview that Lombardi conducted yesterday. Knuble to the Caps was a real coup.
I love that Lombardi has such a great dialogue with the press and his fanbase. It's a great interview.

Maybe 3-4 years ago when he looked like a better version of Brooks Orpik, but he's been flat-out bad the last few years.
Exelby is horrible. I really think he's one of the very worst defensemen in the entire Eastern Conference. In the old NHL, he probably would have been pretty good. Now, I'm actually upset that he was traded out of the southeast.

the more i think about it, i get annoyed with our logjam of bottom pair D-men and GMGM hording them as tho they were made of gold. package them up, shine em' up real nice and trade them for something we NEED.
