Edm and Ottawa

Listening to Ottawas GM Spezza is not untouchable. Obviously another centreman would have to come back with a dman. How about this

To Edm
Spezza

To Ottawa
Horc
Visnovsky
Schremp

I think this helps out both teams and is fair value for each. Of course I know that fans are going to think that they are not getting enough so lets hear what you have to say.

Spezza is a young proven elite center. If he's available, teams will be lining up with more than this.

No thank you.

Don't need Horcoff, already have Fisher.
Don't need Schremp, nobody does.
Visnovsky isn't worth losing Spezza. Kuba and Campoli may put up 40 points with us next season.

You have to remember that being locked up for 7 mil is a lot of money with the economy going down. You are getting a two way centreman that can still play with Heatly and Alfie and a puck moving dman that your team really needs. He could really help on the power play and is really good with the first pass out. The only change maybe is another prospect or a better one. What do Oiler fans think.

As an Oiler fan I wouldn't do this.

Spezza is over-rated. The only Sen player I have any interest in is Heatly.

Even when the cap drops to 50 million.
Spezzas 7.0 cap hit is only 14% of the cap.

I'd rather move Heatley but for a better package then what your offering.

Oy. Comments like this make me want to dump-tackle a moving train.. Spezza has been our best player this year. Heatley is far more over rated then Spezza. To the first comment that Murray doesnt consider Spezza untouchable: thats true. No one is untouchable on this whole team. Alfie would warrant the largest overpayment, but there are tons of players Murray would trade for him, if offered. If anything, I could see Heatley to Anaheim for Perry and maybe Ebbett plus a bit. Spezza is so underrated, not over rated.

Outside of Crosby, Malkin and Lecavalier...I'm not sure who I'd want as my first line center for the next 5-10 years. If I'm Ottawa, he's an untouchable.

Salary cap going down? Yeah this completely justifies downgrading your elite top line center for someone who makes 1.5 million less.

Thats why if we dump a big contract, its Heatley.

My idea:

Heatley and Picard to Anaheim for Perry, Ebbett, a 1st and 2nd?

Anaheim gets a defensman whos young and skilled. Ottawa has a defensive logjam, Anaheim has none. Heatley along with Getzlaf is just absolute dominance, Perry would help fill in our top 6. And with Ebbett signed at a low price, we dont need to give Comrie his millions to be a 2nd line center, leaving us more money to get a top 6 winger/ top 2 dman.

Hmmm so Sens get rid of Spezza, yet pick up a center who has nowhere near his offensive talent and make 1.5 million less, and then they pick up an additional 5 million in salary with Visnovsky. Sounds like a bad deal to me.

Spezza is starting to be injury free over the last couple years, and despite his slow start is still on pace for 70 points, with a likely return to 90-95 points next season and for the future.

No deal.

Not when the asking price is Spezza.

Anyways the argument is funny cause "we should want to trade Spezza and his humongous 7 million a season contract" (for a 5.5million serious downgrade) yet when we want to keep cap friendly players like Kuba and Campoli, then we're the ones making the mistake.

I can't wait for Spezza's NTC to kick in.

... and has it's cap space locked up for next season... and most of it's top prospects are offensive defensemen... and none of it's prospects are 1st line centers.

What was your point again?

I just don't see it at all...

Other teams would give up much more for this guy...

I'd send out Edler, rights to Ohlund, Grabner and our 2nd at the draft. (Assuming Sundin wasn't resigning, we should have an idea by then). Even that beats your offer IMO...

...What?

Visnovsky > Edler
Horcoff > Grabner
Schremp = 2nd

But I guess the 'rights' to an unrestricted free agent push it over the top.

Absolutely terrible. Horcoff isn't living up to the contract he just signed for next year. Visnovsky is good but not this good. Schremp is a throw in that will never make the Oilers with how much MacT hates him. Spezza isn't doing great this year but hes still an elite playmaker, start with Hemsky.
