Dmitri Vorobiev

Originally saw this on the Caps board.

Quote:
Continental Hockey League (KHL) - According to the father of the player, Dmitri Vorobiev (Toronto Maple Leafs) might be on his way to Ovechkin's Washington Capitals. The former defenseman of Lada Togliatti and Salavat Yulaev Ufa, who has been released by the latter after his ECG problems, is now on leisure in Thailand after attending rehabilitation for his heart troubles, and is currently contractless. It's also reported that Toronto is ready to sell the rights to the player drafted in the 2004.

Ready to sell his rights eh?

Can't say I'm surprised.

Not surprised one bit. I was still surprised to even see him ranked on our prospect list.

Can we sell his rights now, or do we have to wait for the draft?

I believe they can still trade his rights, but he wouldn't be able to play this season.

Desjardins estimates that about 40% of the game is captured by Corsi analysis.

I'm shocked any team wants his rights.

Washington is going to run away laughing after they get one of our best prospects for nothing.

Would that be before or after he can't play hockey?

Kronwall and Vorobiev will be their future top pairing.

If he is cleared to play then I don't know why the Leafs wouldn't try signing him? We don't have a deep enough system to be giving away prospects for nothing, especially on defense.

Where would we play him? We have a huge logjam of D to move out before we could bring him over.

Getting anything for that waste of a pick would be nice.

Either way I just hope hes gone so we dont have to hear about a guy that never planned on comming here anyways.

Thanks smart ass. Have you looked at the link? I could write on a site anywhere and call it NHL prospects and claim Tavares will only play for the Leafs. Does that make it a good source?

It sounds to me like Vorobiev's father is reporting this.

Hey if he doesn't want to play here, what can you do? Getting something for him is the next best thing.

I agree,

we'll probably get like a 4th or 5th rounder for him and he'll go on to turn into a top 2 pairing Defensemen

There has to be a reason he hasn't signed with Toronto.. and I don't think it's because Burke is "anti-Euro" either..

Sounds to me like Vorobiev would prefer playing with more of his comrades.

May as well get something for him then never have him come over..
