Could Marty be Byng bound?

With the amount of icetime Marty gets, the fact he plays in every situation and is a top 20 in points right now, he has to be a favorite for the Lady Byng. He only has 10 PIM.

I know, some people could give a rats ass about the Lady Byng, but I think its an honorable trophy to win. And if any player deserves it, its certainly Marty, who goes out there battles hard every night and doesn't play dirty.

The other candidates will probably be Patrick Marleau and Pavel Datsyuk.

he deserves to win one eventually, but who knows how they pick a winner. Datsyuk has won it 3 years in a row, but I wonder if because he didn't even go to the all star game and do what Crosby did, will give Marty the edge.

Marty for the Byng is an interesting idea. I doubt he's nominated since he's on a bottom feeder like the Lightning.

I'll always cherish the memory of Nolan Pratt getting the BS penalty in Game 7 of the 2004 SCF.

If you want me to be honest... Datysuk has only 20 PIM, and is likely going to break the 100 point mark, I don't really see it as a possibility. The Byng is very heavily points weighted. Combine that with the fact he has won it three years straight... I can't see it going to anyone else.
